How were they aggressive? They responded to an elk call and was circling trying to kill an elk. Then he walked up to a wounded wolf. Id expect the wolf to show some aggression after getting shot.

Also, the surviving wolves stayed around. Isnt it a common thing for a wolf or any animal to show compassion when another dies? Usually they stick around for awhile.

Maybe Im just not getting it. Good for him though. Itd be pretty cool to take wolf with a bow and I would definitley need to be carrying a bigger handgun.

Have you ever been in the woods? Who cares if they were circling to kill an elk or circling to kill the gentlemen. They were circling to kill. I would have done the same, but tried to shoot more. To the comment of him walking up on a wounded wolf.... He was blood trailing it, it happens. Have you developed super powers that allow you to sense when every animal you are trailing is dead? Me neither.

Might be common for other animals with "yours" to stick around after the shot, but not too continue to follow and circle you.

Congratulations to the hunter, I hope he fills his tags and kills 9 more.

That story could've ended differently. Say he was a bad shot and missed and about 3 wolves charged him. I'm glad that didn't happen and that he's ok to share his story. I think the more wolves come into contact with people the more comfortable they'll be. Kinda like bears. But that's IMO.

    Hey pal, relax

Yes Im very aware of what wolves do. I never once said they were trying to be a cuddle buddy. I wouldve done the exact same thing as he did but dont act surprised that they were aggressive.

Never once did I give him hell about trailing the wolf. That's exactly what he shouldve done but again, dont act surprised he lunged and growled.

I dont get the yours thing. They were sticking around and Im sure they wanted to have him for a meal.

70 yards would still be too close if I was on the ground. lol. Do you see a lot of wolves while you're in the stand?

I wouldn't say "a lot" but I see them. Hear them weekly in the fall while hunting.

That is a beautiful animal, and i would definitely get a bigger gun than a 22. Is it still an archery kill if he finished it off with a 22?

    Wolves in Wisconsin

Thank God Nothing bad happened to him . But every time you go into the woods you don't know what you will find . Hpefully it is a buck of your dreams .We do not control what happen's out there and hope no one has a bad experience with the wolf and in Wi. hope the number is reduced in this new wolf hunt in Oct. I think the deer population has suffered enoungh it's time for a start of a comeback for the whitetail especially in Nothern Wi.
    Best Wishes
