Hey guys. I'll be hunting both Southern Zone, NY and Northern Zone, NY this year. Opening day for nothern zone is 9/27, and opening day for southern zone is 10/1. I'll spend the majority of my time in southern zone this year, including a full week from 11/10 to 11/17. I'll fill in a couple of weekends in northern zone though as time permits.

Pics of a couple of bucks I've got that I'd be thrilled to shoot. Remember, in eastern NY we really don't have the size of deer that the western part has. For me, anything 100" or better is in trouble in either southern or northern zones. In northern zone, these pics are taken roughly 2.5 miles from the nearest road near a giant beaver swamp......we have less than 5 deer per square mile up there but when we do find bucks they have a good chance of being a good one.

    Northern zone hit list:

And a set of sheds I'm holding that my bud found on the property in southern zone.........this guy is a dandy.

Exactly my next questions! If nobody else wants the title/duty, I'm game for Captain.

Team names, I'll give some thought to...

Rick, that shed is impressive! Where abouts in NY are you hunting? I grew up in Clifton Park, but used to hunt mainly down in Schoharie Co, but some in the Vischer's ferry/surrounding Clifton Park areas and a bit near Corinth. I still know a couple of cherry spots up near the Capital District, but I live well over 700miles south now...

I live in Rotterdam now, but did live in Clifton Park for several years before we bought our home. I've been a member at Sportsmans Club of Clifton Park for a good 8 years or so now too. With that said, I don't hunt in this area much, I just don't have access to a lot of spots and even though I live next to the Pine Bush, we have a bunch of good deer at the camps I belong to and it's worth my time to travel instead. I belong to a camp in Northern Zone which is in the very northwest corner of Saratoga County, and I also belong to a camp in Southern Zone which is a bit northwest of Oneonta in Otsego County. My bud also owns about 23 acres in Delmar in the bowhunting zone that I have occasional access to but I don't spend much time there.

In the last week I have heard of over 100 deer being found, largest 180", it might be a very tough season....
