I came across a Mathews switchback for sale. I have a buddy that isn't as fortunate as me that has been wanting to get into bowhunting and I'm thinking about getting this bow for him. I'm a PSE man, the last Mathews that I had was the Q2 back in early 2000's so I don't know anything about the more recent Mathews. So here's my question(s); Is the switchback model a good bow and is $400 a good price for a well taken care of switchback fully loaded with arrows and a release???? Thank you

My switchback XT is the first adult bow ive ever owned and i absolutely love it! Ive shot a pse bow madness i think it is that my buddy has but i much rather my mathews. For $400 i think its a great deal, I got about 1300 invested in mines, with the bow, arrows, rest, and sights, but I dont regret it one bit!

My first bow was a Reflex...I had to wait 4 years to get the bow I really wanted...a left-handed 2006 Switchback. Today, even big Hoyt guys will tell you (begrudgingly) that the Switchback is one of the best bows ever produced. Great balance, no jump, fast, forgiving...It's a super nice bow. Just make sure you know your friend's draw length and poundage preference. But yes, if it's in good condition and depending on how complete it is, that's a good price. Your friend could do way worse. It is a legendary Mathews offering for a reason.

Um he said switchback not xt
Depending on the loaded part would have a factor in price for me.
But if it would fit him and you feel like it's a good deal take it.
I think you are one hell of a guy for helping him out

I still shoot and love my Switchback. I have had it since they first came out. Very good bow in my opinion.

If my bud came up to me and said, "Here, take this Switchback and dial it in so we can go hunting..." I'd piss my pantalones...

A buddy of mine here at work went about 2 years ago to a bow shop with a handfull of cash with the intent of buying a new bow. He ended up shooting a large variety of brands, sizes, options... etc... left.... came back and did it again.... Then went home with a used switchback cause he liked how it shot the best.

The Switchback is an awesome bow. I have the XT & love it. I still enjoy shooting it. It's not the fastest thing, compared to my Nitruim Turbo & Arena 30, but it's a joy to shoot.

I bought a Mathews Switchback off a guy I work with for $200 a while back. Knowing what I know now I'd easily pay double (even for a bare bow). This thing shoots great! Buttery smooth draw, easy to hold, accurate, and quiet. The only negative I could think of is that to adjust your draw length you'll have to buy another cam. They're available in half inch increments so you can get dialed in. If your buddy's draw length doesn’t match what this bow your buying is already set up at, then you (or him) will be out a little more money to switch out the cams and get new strings. The plus side is you'll still have a top dollar bow, fully equipped and setup for cheap.

The only bow that Mathews has ever made that I was comfortable shooting.

    (after I changed the grip)

So how does your buddy like it? (since this thread is years old!)
