I had my eye on one really nice bird, believe he's a 3 year old bird or better. but he hasnt been seen in 3 weeks. I have 3 trail cams in the field that he frequents so im going to grab them tonight or tomorrow and see if he's been kickin around. Im sure i'll find a bird, dont count me out!
Friday was a bust do to the weather. I went late Saturday evening and only had one bird gobble at 6 pm. First time this year I have been skunked. It rained all Saturday night through late morning today. The weather permitted me to go late today. I tried a new spot. Had a Tom with 3 jakes stroll through my decoys around 6:30. He never broke stride... He was just average. It was a truly grueling hunt. I was carrying almost twice the weight out as everything was covered in mud.
the day has come! i'll be waiting on a bird at daylight! just hope he's still around! weather is supposed to be ugly, but better wednesday, so we'll see! ohh... I was shooting tonight and one of my lower limbs on my new CRX32 decided it was fine time to de-laminate... brought it up to my bow shop, they were able to shave and file it down for now, they are confident that its safe, so im content. they are working on the warranty to get my new limbs in.
Well, how is it going? You kill that bird yet? As far as the de-laminate thing... You should have bought a Mathews!
I bought a hoyt cause i knew they would cover any defects No go on that big bird, went to check out where they were actually roosting and found a blind 50 yards from the tree. from my land the next morning i heard two shots at 5:30 and two shots at 7:00... considering there was 1 Tom, and 3 jakes there- its safe to say he's gone. Found another really nice bird, 10+ inch bird on thursday, but I had my sister with me, trying to get her first bird. She graduates from college today so I was generous enough to start calling it her bird, he wouldn't commit to the calls with two hot hens sticking to his side. couldn't hunt friday, went this morning, and the woods were silent. I have permission to start hunting another farm next week. 4 guys had permission to hunt it but there are a bunch of birds from what i've heard so i'll be putting some time in yet!
MN opener was today but won't make it out until Friday. Now that I'm working a full time job again it cuts into my hunting time. This is my first week working for the SD game fish and parks in habitat management. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Kyle aka DriveTacks- How is it going? We could certainlty win this thing if everyone can put a bird on the board! I know its a long drive/flight but let me know if you want to put a bird on the ground here in KS! And MN/Kyle still needs to post his correct score on the score card!
hey Heckler, definitely appreciate the offer! been really swamped with work, sisters graduation last weekend and, dad's girlfriends masters graduation yesterday, was planning on getting out this morning, but just simply didnt have the energy. Work is sure to rough again this week, but I'm going to try to get out tomorrow before i head to work, and maybe at some point again before next weekend. I'll try to hit it hard next weekend as well. Been really tough with the low number of birds and high number of shotgun hunters in the areas that I hunt, unfortunately with work being so busy I havent had the time to scout some other places that I was planning on. we'll see I have till the end of May here in vermont!
If we can get MN/Kyle to correct his score and ChrisSchwarz to post his bird on the scorecard we could very well win!
I sent Kyle a pm a long time ago about that. There is gonna be a prize package for the winning team, you might try some pm's again, Ill try and send Kyle a pm on FB
Hi guys, sorry Ive been M.I.A.....unbelievably swamped at work, which actually is good. Sorry about the confusion, but i shot two jakes in KS. So the score actually is correct.
