Given an average piece of hunting land, how confident are you in yourself that you can move in and kill a deer (any deer) with a bow in under two weeks?

I'm by no means a bowhunting or deer hunting expert, but I've learned a lot in my first season regarding stand placement, deer sign, scent control, and hunting strategy. I do feel that I could kill a deer given 2 weeks to hunt on any property.

" I do feel that I could kill a deer given 2 weeks to hunt on any property."

I've hunted the same property for the past 12 years and one year I arrowed three deer in 2 weeks. That year I arrowed those three deer, I believe I saw 12-15 deer the entire year. I remember going by weeks without seeing a single deer. My point is I hunt an average piece of hunting ground, and I am not sure if I could kill a deer in under two weeks consistently if that were my goal. Maybe I could, maybe not.

If your targeting a certain deer I would say its sort of luck of the draw. How many times have people gotten trail cams of deer at the same time everyday for weeks on end then they go in to hunt and nothing? For me if I went to just kill any deer on the land I hunt now I believe I could do it pretty easily within 2 weeks especially early in the season. The last 2 years I have had the opportunity to fill my doe tag in the first 15 minutes of daylight I hunted and blew it both times. Hopefully this year will be different.

In two weeks, sure, I can't see why not.

all depends on what state you are in and deer numbers

well...I'm not sure the question is a fair one. The greatest hunter on planet earth can hunt the most prime piece of property there is and still not kill a deer if there are no deer on the property. sometimes marginal looking land hold a lot more deer than prime looking ground....to kill deer you must hunt where deer live....everything else is secondary. That being said though, i would compare what you are asking to hunting public land. lots of hunters are successful hunting properties that they are unfamiliar with.....that isnt to say you can expect to kill a giant buck, but to kill a deer in general is doable with a basic knowledge of interpreting deer sign.

Alot of factors here.... time of year, state, type of pressure around it, any deer or a certain deer, moon phase, temp... ect. More than likely i could google earth the property and find a way to kill "a" deer but targeting mature deer is more complicated depending on time of year

I am talking about am average piece of property that is currently holding an average amount of deer. I am also talking about killing ANY deer, not monster bucks.

^^ This... I have seen more deer on the first day hunting new properties than most other days.

For me it is not really the state, but more the property. Some public/private properties have a strong population while others are at a bare minimum population (read: DNR goal level!!).

I've got no doubt that I could hunt a new piece and within 2 weeks kill a deer.

If I had plenty of time then I'm certain I could. If I only had weekends then no.

Yes you can do it in less than 2 weeks. Especially in states where you are allowed to bait(feed) deer. When you find deer runs(trails) leading to and from that location, find a tree that is ideal to climb or hang a stand in that area. Here in NC, all you have to do is spread some corn and put out a trail camera. Normally deer will find it in less than a week.
