57 with a bow... if you count tracking all night and finishing it off, a kill. It was only my second whitetail with a bow so please don't be too hard on me. Wouldn't take that shot again. I did shoot a buck once at 45 on the very last day of the season. It went only 25 yards on a 17 degree day. It bedded down in front of me behind a tree around 7:30 in the morning and finally stood up and gave me a shot around 4:00 in the afternoon. That was one long cold day for Alabama! Now I shoot around 25-30 max. 300+ with a 30/06... could shoot further but there's no need.
The longest shot I have tooken with my bow & was successful on was 32 yds. I have a couple others beyond that, where I wasn't successful. I can top Vito's pellet gun kill, I shot a jumping spider at 5-6 feet with a bb gun
Impressive! We used to stalk and shoot those big flying grasshoppers. I can't tell you how many times I thought I could get one step closer and those bastards would take off. You could tell when they were getting nervous. We usually just tried to take out their wings. Then, we would ride our bikes to a local pond and use them as bait for bass. Ahh, those were the good old days.

with the bow i shot a doe at 34-35 yards. farthest with a gun was a prairie dog and coyote, prairie dog was 745 and the coyote was 830 yards with a custom savage 7mm
Shot a doe last year at 43 yards. Piled up at 40 yards. Shot another at 41 yards and dropped her right there. First miss was last night at 32 yards. Thought it was 40 and she ducked the arrow. That combination equals an arrow over the back.
Doing doe management this year in Iowa, perfect day, relaxed deer feeding in a bean field, broadside, no wind...63 yards. She went about eighty before expiring. She didn't even hear the bow, the other does in the field never knew what happened and she was the only one that left the field. Pretty cool, swore I would never try that...but the conditions were right and I was confident on the shot. First time in twenty two years of bowhunting that I've shot over 45 yards.
bow 84 yards on a doe on camera in 1999, 80 on a buck in 2000. Don't shoot that far anymore. Don't practice anything like i used to! both were with a 80 pound clearwater wheel bow. 2413's and 125 grain thunderheads. the buck didn't even know what happened, he took one step looked around and fell over dead, the doe he was chasing came back and stood there looking at him like what the heck? It was awesome.
My furthest hit on a deer with an arrow was 30 yards. My furthest shot on a deer with a rifle was 425 yards. Both were blacktail bucks in California.
