I shoot a Mathews Jewel with the draw weight currently at 55 pounds. What is a broadhead that give me good penetration?
Anything fixed is a pretty safe bet. I personally shoot the Muzzy MX-3s but I think the SlickTricks are a better choice just cause of how they are built. Getting up that high you are starting to get into the mechanical broadhead territory but thats a little iffy. A fixed blade should give you positive results, for sure.
Muzzy Phantom or Phantom MX ..100 grains .. Not all with Muzzy , but I recovered 530 attowed game animals with the bow
I use 3 blade muzzys. 125 gr. The old style ones. I have a 40lb draw weight and about 34 ft lbs of KE. The muzzys do a fine job.
I have several close friends and relatives all who shoot under 42lbs draw weight and shoot rages with awesome luck. A friend of mines 60+ year old mother who shoots 37lbs has shot 8 deer and 2 bear with rages. 7 of the deer were passthru's..
Personally, i shoot Slick Trick 100 gr. 1" broadheads. $27 for a pack of 3, but they havent let me down yet. My uncle works at an archery shop, and he's tried the mechanical broadheads, but doesnt like em and is goin back to slick tricks

most all cut on contact heads will work great. How much under 60lb? there is a big difference in 50ld and 40lb.
55lbs is a lot of draw weight, you should be fine with any broadhead you feel confident in, I'm changing back to fixed blades this year, probably the NAP Hellrazor, sick of expensive one and done broadheads, best of luck!
I shoot 55 lbs currently. I shot my first couple deer this season with blood runner two blades with 400 full metal jackets. The problem that seemed to occur was that my deer didn't really bleed well. All of my shots were lung shots.
Were the blades brand new and never shot into anything? In my experience, three blades give a much better blood trail than two blades and oddly, even a better blood trail than four blades.
I don't know if this will help you or not my wife is shooting the almost exact same setup, mathews passion 55lbs she is 28 in draw length. She shoots magnus stingers buzzcut. 85 gr. she had her share of great success with them. She shot a ten point last year 18 yard shoot she got a little far forward in the shoulder and she had great penetration. Never had a deer get a way, with fairly good blood trails. They are fixed blade, but as far as flying or tuning. She can match me out to 45 yds shoot for shoot. Hardly any adjustment. They are also lifetime warranty. They replaced every single blade we sent back. Very affordable. hope this helps
Christine, I second your comment on the 3 blade heads making them bleed really well! I've trailed dozens of deer and the best blood trails were with 3 bladed heads, followed by 2-blade Rage heads, and lastly 4 bladed heads. I only know what I've seen while trailing, so nothing against anyone else here!
I'm not totally sure about this but I'm guessing, This might be the same idea why soldiers can't have a triangular blade for a bayonet. A stab would with a triangular blade won't close on its own and is damn hard to sew up. If they allow them to use a straight blade then the soldier that got stabbed would at least have a chance of being able to be fixed up. Again, I'm not 100% positive but it makes sense to me.
