I drew a mule deer tag and a bull elk tag in 48. Not getting overly excited-but hoping to lose my virginity this go around!:D
Did my first elk hunt last year-got into a couple on my own while calling, just didn't get a shot. I guess I'm sort a hooked!
Anyone else draw? Good luck to all that drew!!

    Tony,
    Here's to two bloody arrows!

I'm still bustin' butt to do all I can to get back out there after Elk again this season...keep me posted on your hunt - if our dates match up (and you're close enough in 48 to unit 45), I owe you a Mexican lunch:)

I thought you could buy over the counter tags in Colorado. Is that for rifle and muzzleloader only? How does that work? I was thinking about going up there in a couple years for an archery elk/mule deer hunt. Thanks.

Congratulations on drawing! Check out this website; http://www.elknut.com

The knowledge Paul has is absolutely astounding. I guarantee that if you buy any of his videos if will totally change the way you hunt elk.

Some units are over the counter others are draw. For the first season rifle that is a draw. To know, you would have to narrow down the unit.

Check out the Colorado DOW site for more information. Some of these units require points, which you get when your denied that year.

I'll be out there in an OTC unit with Josh, his dad and possibly his cousin. Gonna go for the opener and probably hunt 8-10days. Hopefully one or more of us is bringing an elk home....

Easier on my sleep schedule at least.... :D Should be a good time, Josh's dad is a pretty cool guy too. A young 60 with a little experience in the mountains as well, so it should make for a nice trip.

Good luck on your hunt Tony! You'll enjoy it. I'm heading out farther west of you for the last weekend and a half of the bow season. Can't wait to get out there and smell that mountain air and put in some miles! have fun out there....
