With the summer months almost here, and pictures of velvet bucks on our minds. I was just wondering what new trail cameras for 2011 are out there and what you are looking at purchasing. I myself have been eyeing the new DLC Covert cameras.

I will probably be adding a few more Primos Truth Cam46's. They are relatively cheap and have worked vary well for me. I would like to get something better and more expensive, but the areas I hunt have alot of people around and I can't justify spending $200+ on something that could be stolen very easily. I have a hard time leaving the $130 model out there. I would really like to get a model that sends the pics right to my phone or computer, someday............. haha

I am currently building three more homebrews. A Sony S600, Sony S40, and a Sony W290. On the commercial side the DLC Covert, Scoutguard 565F, and of course the Reconyx look interesting.

I have been pleased with my truth cameras also. Just wish they had one smaller and ran on AA's. I know they just came out with one but they are getting over $200.00 for it.

Around how much do you figure it cost you to make a homebrew?

Id be interested to see how the new bushnell trophy cams do, I have 8 Bushnell trophy cams from 2009 & 2010 but the new Black out models could be a huge benefit since deer do catch infrared cams

The great unknown factor in this equation is the price of the camera used. I think I am averaging about $120 per build. Here is the price of the last three cams I have bought.

    Sony S40...$40.00
    Sony S600...$40.00
    Sony W290...$50.00

I agree, they are big. I get very good life out of my D batteries though too.

I have heard that the Primos cameras make a click sound when they take pictures but that's the only bad thing I've heard about them. I want to get one but I worried about that noise. Opinions?

Sweet, I'm gonna be getting one soon as well. Did you get the one with or without the viewer? If you got the one with the viewer, where did you order it because I can't find anywhere that has it besides Cabelas.

Well I got it in the mail today and my daytime pictures are great but my night time pictures are blurry. I was walking at a normal pace with 2 shed antlers on my head to act as a buck and the rack was blurry. Is there a software update for them? If there isn't, I might as well return the camera and wait till they get all the bugs out of them.

Not for sure about the software update. Post up some good and bad pics that you got.
