My son has shot Muzzy 3-blades ever since he started hunting six years ago. I guess mainly because that's what I picked out for him. He wanted to try Bloodrunners, so instead of going out and spending his money, he borrowed one from a buddy. He took a nice doe. Broadhead came out the other side, but it wasn't a complete passthrough. He hit her right behind the shoulder from about 10 yds. He wasn't happy with the penitration he got from the Bloodrunner and is sticking with Muzzys. Before switching, see if you have a friend who is willing to loan a BH to test out.
I wouldn't use either. I have tried the Rage 2 blade. I did punch a nice big hole but I didn't feel 100% confident in the locking system. I had blades come loose causing erratic flight. The piston system on the blood runner might be ok but it goes against me. A fixed blade will not fail you.
I've shot rage last year and a bloodrunner this year but I never felt like they were the right broadheads for me. I took 3 deer with the montec cs this season. All pass throughs and the deer were down within 60 yards. I was also pleased with the four blade slick trick. I took a 10pointer at 13 yards with the slick trick and he only went 35 yards. I may try to use the bloodrunner on a late season doe but I give the montec cs and slick trick a . In the end, I believe the key is to make an accurate shot. C
I've killed deer with both. I'll take the Bloodrunner every time. I had issues with durability on the Rage.
it seems rage has alot of good and bad reviews...i dnt shoot either but from what ive heard from my friends that do use rage is that wen they work they work great but wen they dont it can cost you a deer and to me it doesnt seem worth a risk, bloodrunners are way more consistent in my opinion from wat ive seen
Rage broadheads are good for turkeys or coyotes or whatever but when it comes to something with big bones that can stop those arrows you may want to take the penetration factor into consideration. Make sure your FOC is good and KE is enougth (dont take much) and you will be fine. The reason we use all of these big huge awesome broadheads is because we arnt perfect and make mistakes so pick the best one for the trade.
2 blade blood Runners for me..I shot 4 deer with them this year and I watched 3 die with in sight of my tree and the 4th died in 70 yards just out of sight. I had 3 passthrus and one that didn't..
The idea of the bloodrunners are awesome because of the gaping hole the punch and the cut on contact head.
Bloodrunner's are not cut on contact heads, they are a pyramid point. This is an example of a cut on contact broadhead. There's COC, pyramid and conical type points.
yea well i knew they werent exactly cut on contact i miss worded myself i ment fixed blade but mechanical less energy loss by non opening blades....i shoot montec cs they are cut on contact
its easy to get excited about sick new broadheads! the Rage and the Bloodrunner are both wicked broadheads! But the Montec is good too, my local shop owner has dozens of harvest pics of everything from deer, elk, bear, moose ect. ALL taken with the Montec, only broadhead he will use and he's kinda my mentor so you know what I'm usin!
Check out the grim reapers. I went to them this year, after twenty years shooting thunderheads. Amazing blood trails. They fly better than my field tips. Watch their vidio on their website
i shoot montecs and grimreapers whitetail special mathews owns grimreaper so thats why they have such a good rep lol =]
A guy at work uses the meatseakers and really likes them. He took 3 deer this year, all were pass through and none went far.
meatseaker is made my trophy ridge right? They have the rocket 2 3/4" cut that looks like a beast lol
