Dang, sorry guys! Totally understand the goal though. Good luck this year! Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk
Not yet. I use to have them out all year. The last 3 years I started hanging them up at the end of September or when I start seeing scrapes around the field edges. Seems to work for me... And I don't get all depressed come season when all the summer bucks go walk about on me. They are all so transient on the place I hunt. The good one I was after last year was killed second week of gun season 10 miles away from the lease...
47 more days until season opens in Ohio. I need to start preparing. It will be here before we know it.
The wolves are running wild on my property this year. I usually have a couple filter through each summer but it's an entirely new level this year. I'm used to counting 30-60 deer a night. I haven't seen one in two weeks. I'm thinking the wolves just keep pushing them around. Hopefully the increased human intrusion during the hunting season drives the canine out of there otherwise it's going to be a long season. Our own DNR states one wolf eats 20 adult deer a year. Doesn't take long with appetites like that to clear out a property. Only predator in the state with a protection pass. Some guys think they are cool. I am not one of those guys.
I would tell DNR Wolf on state property it's their wolf. Wolf on my property, my wolf. They can't value one animal over the other on private land.
So how's everyone's prep going? Bows shooting well? Stands checked? Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
I've been shooting one shot everyday since August started. Figure it's the best real life practice for me since I shoot a xbow anymore. I've got several ground blinds to setup yet.
Been doing some shooting and have a couple stands I need to get out back out. Looking forward to another good year! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Stands have been in since last week on the private land I hunt. I won't step foot in there until the second or third week of the season. I will miss at least the first weekend as I will be chasing elk in Colorado. Didn't draw but decided to hit the OTC like the old days. I planted 4 small kill plots a couple weeks ago but now we are going to get record highs and no rain in the forecast in Central Wisconsin. Nothing I really can do but pray the cooler nights and shorter days help keep things alive until we get some moisture. I definitely have a wolf problem this year. Most years I have a couple decent deer running around my place and this year it's a ghost town. Hopefully, they move on and the deer move back in.
I've been consistently getting daytime pictures of the shooters I will be after when season opens. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen for another 30 days. Heading out to Ohio this weekend to get all stands and blinds ready. Hopefully it will be cooler.
I got a few bucks on camera daytime after the 100 degree week we had. 30 degrees difference finally. Still waiting on Mr Big to show up. Got a couple good ones around here and there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Looks like Chief got all the teams setup and OldCarp is on the board already. I guess it's time to get this party started. When does everyone's season start?
10/1 for me. Been watching does out the kitchen window feeding almost every evening on our apple tree.
Deer love them apples. We have several old apple and crapapples trees on our property that the deer hit quite often.
9/16 here but I will miss at least the first weekend chasing Elk in Colorado. I finally had a shooter buck show up on cam for the first time in about a month of wolf pictures. Got me excited even though this is an area I've hunted for 30 years that usually has good ones in the summer and then POOF! I've got everything done on the homestead and by the time I hunt it I will not have stepped foot back there 5-6 weeks.
