My Jetboil weighs 1.4lb with a 100g canister which gives me enough fuel to boil over 12 litres of water. Packs down into a nice small unit. I love seeing what everyone else carries. Cant weight to sit around a fire talking kit, hunting etc.
Jeff, You are NOT required to wear Hunter's ORANGE unless you are hunting with a firearm or Muzzleloader. Now in all honesty, it makes little to no sense, but those are the rules. Guides who are guiding rifle/MZL hunters are not required to wear the ORANGE either, only the actual hunters. Sort of defeats the purpose of the ORANGE, but that's the rules they play by. I'm really not quite big enough or attractive enough anyone would ever mistake me for an elk, so I believe I'm safe....... Looking at the NEW Regulations, they made a LOT of areas draw units as compared to the last several years, this may be both good and bad as I'm building points up for a "good unit" in the future.

I have the Jetboil personal which is all I need for any back pack hunts I do. I used to carry a Trangia but after seeing the Jetboil, just had to have one. Comes everywhere with me from day hunts to 4-5 night backpack hunts.
OK, I'm impressed! just the fuel options of the Kelly Kettle ie no gas required are what i like...............Humm, do i get a jetboil.....
Army ration pack meals....jetboil......? I think I will stick with the buffalo steak and sea food back at the main camp. You guys are too hard core for me.
Don't forget the wine and cheese, and tea with scones in camp. As far as overnighting, I'll leave the weight of the stove behind every time for a one nighter and just carry food that I don't have to cook; bagels, smoked salmon and cheese.
Yep , Will has a great point . In the day i'll take sausage slices and Peanut and Jelly sandwiches ....... i never tried the PBJ sandwiches till i came over their in 2008 and now i'm hooked . Water to drink will do till i get back to camp , i wanna leave space for the meals at night . Rob , i may need converting on the salmon . Tried it a couple of times and did not like it , but i'm always willing to try again .
Rob's Smoked Wild Alaskan Sockeye? What's not to like?! Don't tell me that you're talking about that farmed Atlantic salmon garbage they try to pass of as fish on the "outside"? I'm hoping to stretch the gillnet in June and take my full limit of 50 this year (if we get a decent run) which will keep me busy vacuum sealing and smoking for about a solid week but it'll mean there'll be plenty to go around... and more for the rest of us if you don't care for it! Nothing better with a good 18 y/o whisky than smoked salmon and aged sharp white cheddar! I just sent MeanV some coho I did last fall for a favor he did me. We'll have to see what he says.

Last time around only saw one guy in the woods the whole hunt and it was another bow hunter. As Will said a touch of orange certainly wouldn't hurt and sometimes no matter how safe you are someone else might not be. I may wear something on my head during the MZ week as you never know. I was hunting in Utah last fall and a friend of mine from there who was helping me out related a story. He and a friend were general season MZ hunting and they had split up. He was waiting for his buddy to return after dark when someone came flying down the road. Stopped and said there had been an accident. His buddy was walking down a dirt road heading back to the truck and was bugling as he was going trying to get some responses. A guy from California (No offense meant towards CA's) was on the road and saw a dark form approach. He'd heard a bugle and pulled up and shot. Hit him in the chest and he died as the guy was approaching. Left a wife and children at home . Roger quit hunting for a few years and nearly didn't return to it. I felt bad for him just listening to the story and the pain in his voice.
I know we're a ways out...but when do you all look to arrive in CO? My plans right now are to drive out Saturday the 18th...won't roll into camp until 5:00-6:00pmish...now with full Blaze Orange on just to be safe
