As in snowmobile? You'd bury the thing many times

A tracked UTV would be the cat's a@@. You could have packed down the trails to your stands

Back in those guys should have pushed something to me and as you can see in the pic I can see a long ways from my perch. Shoot ALL the doe and where do you think fawn's will come from.? I hope a dead season teaches these guys something. I made it 4 hours which isn't bad considering how cold it is. did hear two shots down the hill on this side and the other side of road below us. One up the hill where Vermonters hunt. That camps for sale, again, so probably last season with them here.
Very very few shots for an opening day.
Sons at camp saw doe and spooked buck going in. Afred is really cold as well. We both have wet ground so frost heaving is wild right now. CRUNCH,CRUNCH,CRUNCH.no quiet place other than my moss trails to walk.

Good luck if you are out today! Waiting to hear back from a buddy to see if we can hit his farm to kill a doe or two with rifle this weekend, maybe next if not this weekend.

I got to tell you guys because I'm proud. That blind I was in I built many years ago between a yellow poplar and a giant beech.it's 5 1/2ft long by 22" or so.
I made the base on two 8 '8"x2" boards bolted to the trees. I carried those boards up a ladder on my shoulder to set. BTW many many redundant safety strappings/chains and spikes and under brace boards in play. I was in my late 40's maybe early 50' at the time. 14 ' to the platform. Man I sat in it this morning wondering...How the hell did I manage this...hahahaha

    Congrats to @picman and @arrowflinger1 .

Yesterday was the last day of archery season. Didn't go out. My son came home from college on Thursday night. Spent some time with him.

Today is firearms season for bears. Next Saturday is firearms season for deer

If what you are doing everyday is not working, slow down and think. We all have a tendency to continue to push forward and not really reset during this time of the season. Leads to a lot of sloppy hunts where we have poor entrances, don't play the wind right, and don't think through the problem. Slow down and nitpick why you are not seeing bucks. Might be a simple 200 yd walk around where they are feeding in the morning, or getting 100yds closer in the afternoon. Heck one guy taught me something this year I never thought about....purposefully blowing out a bedding area. Put em on their feet for a bit and see how they return to the area or at least you have deer looking for another place to bed and you can take advantage.....Turn off autopilot and fly solo.

In the blind with my son. I gave him the choice of what weapon I should bring, bow, muzzleloader or 7mm/08. He chose the 08. Think he’s wanting some action lol.
    Good luck all.
And Tony…you’re either crazy or tough as nails. Respect.

I’m putting a plan together for tomorrow, heading to Ohio. First time going since that lotto hunt. Haven’t stepped foot into my normal hunting spots and have no cams. Looking forward to it, I have all day to hunt. Might hit one spot in am and then move mid day to pm spot. Have a W wind and have plenty of options for that.

Bring your extra warm clothes. We had 12 degrees this morning and they were calling for 20. Calling for 16 degrees tomorrow. May see single digits.

Finally in a stand! Been 2 weeks or more and feel I missed the rut. Had a over load of work, then went on family vacation last week.

I'm in a small property that looks like it got pounded the last 2 week. If I was smart I would have packed up and left after the first hour of being here. Found multiple cameras in my best spots, illegal tree stand, 2 dead deer. Checked 4 or so spots and all crap. Finally found a spot that doesn't look hunted. If it wasn't so thick on this property, I would have left. There is a chance something is still around.

Back out on stand for the afternoon sit. I saw a fawn shortly after getting in.
