Growing plots with sunflowers never gets old. Deer love them on my properties and certainly a sight to see when in full bloom! IMG_5932.JPG IMG_5933.JPG IMG_5930.JPG

I’m back home now. What a disappointing trip. I still can’t believe that the deer totally shifted areas and patterns in one day. Not just one day, but the day before season opened.

Do all the deer in Missouri have access to my travel plans?

Anyway, my stuff is in the washer and even though it’s 97 degrees I am thinking about climbing a tree about 6:00 pm and taking my frustrations out on a poor, unfortunate doe.

Peredovik sunflowers are extremekt drought tolerant so overall pretty good!

I’ll have to try and remember that variety for next season. Where do you find the seed?

Doe down for the good guys this evening here at the home place.

It was so freaking hot today. I had sweat running down my back into my butt crack when I shot her. By the time I finished gutting, dragging, skinning, quartering and cleaning up I was drenched.

I needed to take some frustration out on some kind of critter though, and this doe just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Glad Littlechief got that doe today. Sounds like you had quite a work out.

No, not really. I'm just old, fat and out of shape.

Not many years ago this would have been an easy chore.

Slight cold front coming through and I've thought about maybe going on a reduction zone hunt for an antlerless in the coming days...we will see if I actually do it. If I do it will be on the short access tree which I've harvested a early season antlerless out of the last two years. Can we make the owner's wish of a button buck for the freezer three straight years - I'll give it a go.

    Thanks guys.

I’m still bummed that I couldn’t get a chance at the big Missouri bucks.

I’ll have to try and go back soon.

That's alright your bucks have been bigger than @fletch920 's the last couple years LOL (gotta keep this thing going so he can smoke a giant)

I also appreciate your ability to harvest a slickhead...such a bummer they don't even exist in Wisconsin...right @Team Haastyle ?? LOL
