Could see my breath when I woke up this morning! It's only a tease though, mid 80's for a high on Saturday.
Getting excited. Washing gear again tonight and starting to organize and pack what I will need. Be in a NJ tree Thursday afternoon. Hopefully get on the board with a Doe. Then looking for a Buck from now through January 31. Hopefully it doesn't take that long.
Farmers are starting to to chop corn by me this week. One of my best sports has 180 acres standing right now. All I will need is for the soybeans to the north of me to yellow and I will have a good idea of what bucks are going to call my piece home.
Got home from work and started to fine tune the setup while practice from an elevated platform(6ft platform ladder)! May not be my 20ft tree-stand, but it serves it's purpose! Got out most hunting equip. and started prepping. (check batteries, thermacell, flashlight, etc.) Starting to feel the anticipation building!
This is what I did to my mobile set. As you can see, everything is wrapped with camo tape! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I was able to throw some rubber covers on straps and camo tape on anything "tingy". More confident in my setup now than ever. I am a couple minutes up and about 8 minutes down with packup.
Doe down. Will take the appropriate pics later and get her on the scorecard later tonight or tomorrow.
I was able to get out yesterday to my property and setup my stand/feeder. This year has been a dry spell for the most part in TX. I can not believe how things still have grown wild! BTW I went to fill my feeder and realized i forgot a fresh battery. Hopefully, I'll be able get back before season opens Oct.1
It looks not so bright on side of the woods, the cell cam overlooking my feeder hasn't transmitted any photos since the setup(4days). Check app still shows the last info from the startup...not good with less than 2wks before opener. Hopefully, i get the chance to go over the weekend to troubleshoot. Anyone else season opened or opens soon?
Next Saturday is opening day for me. Cool weather looks like it is sticking around. It might be pretty enjoyable temperatures to hunt opening weekend. Early season hunting is some of my favorite times to be in a stand.
Saturday for me too, as long as the weather cooperates I'll be climbing a tree looking doe a easy doe to start the season off right. If the wind direction is correct I may even try to hit a early season buck bed but I'm guessing the areas will be swamped with the cool weather
