West Lansing Grand Ledge area, but I may pass on this year. I know I should go, but with the prices of everything, it's a $1200 weekend that I don't care to spend.
It's been a long, relaxing but somewhat boring day so to kill some time I read through almost the entire team thread from start to finish. I just wanted to sort of re-live the last two seasons. I got to the buck I killed in January and I think I figured something out. I had mentioned that the buck I shot ran faster than I'd ever seen a deer run. I've shot a lot of deer and seen a lot of them run but that buck ran like he had the devil close on his heels - I mean a flat-out sprint all the way out of sight. I've thought about that off an on since I shot him and it suddenly occurred to me about 5 minutes ago that since I hit him high just in front of the left shoulder blade on a hard quartering-to shot and since he had about a quarter of my arrow sticking out of him the nock was right next to his head so he had a beaming Nocturnal glowing right beside his left ear. It wasn't long until dark then and I'll bet he was trying to run from the bright light flying along right by his head. That poor dude was probably terrified.
It is not burglars I worry about it’s my own kids. Not that they would ever steal anything. I just don’t know what I’m going to come home to
On a sidenote that big buck came back in the orchard. They had harvested the cherries and didn’t know if he had left
Our lease is in Wayne County. We are pretty flat and swampy where I am at in Wisconsin so really anything becomes mountainous if there are actual ridges haha.
Oh yeah, that’s a good ways east. It’s more towards the middle but it’s still eastern Kentucky. Are the deer there as stupid as their farmland relatives in Graves County?
From what I hear there are good deer there but haven’t stepped foot on it yet lol. Going down day before opener and then runnin n gunnin for a week straight. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Might as well start the team off right with some buck kills lol Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Now at 9 years old this buck truly as cemented himself into my memory for a lifetime. This picture was on 7/3/22. Looking forward to seeing his end result. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Our Bowhunt starts the third weekend in August. A few years ago I had a buck down before the teams were organized. I hope you come across that guy.
Connecticut vacation over, time to dig my heels in and get things going. First up, mow my lawn, the in-laws, and the farm. If it's not ridiculous hot this weekend, I'll put some stick up and do a quick scout. As much as I hate to do it, I'm going to sit out of my yearly Army reunion/Golf Scramble, the cost of everything is just too ridiculous for a weekend trip. My son starts 1st grade on Monday, I'm really not ready for it, he's growing up too quickly. That's all for now, just quick update. I have a bunch of catch up stuff to get through before I can get back on my schedule. Cheers fellas.
