These federal tax brackets are throwing me for a loop. I'm buying a new home in a week. The mortgage interest paid on that new house will be a tax deduction correct? I'm trying to figure out my next play job wise over the rest of the taxable year.

Yes, but Fed itemized deductions were capped a couple years ago. If you and your wife are working, you may end up with the standard deduction...

    I don't know MO/VA taxes...

If you're thinking of being a 'kept man' for the year, it would still come down to your joint (or individual of you file single) earnings for the year...

It's gonna be a real fine line. I could see myself working and actually costing us more money in federal taxes then I will make throughout the remainder of the year if that makes sense. I'm looking at everything.

Isn't that just for state and local tax? Which is 10K I believe.

I am well pass the point where mortgage interest is a meaningful deduction.

State & Local taxes (line 5), Mortgage interest & points (line 8) , mortgage insurance priemums (special worksheet in sched A that factors into line 8) are all on schedule A, itemized deductions.

Any capital gains related to the sale/purchase and rules around it are a tad different.

Running an open practice tonight with ages spanning 11-18 and if that's not fun enough there is no AC in the Gym.

I tried to ski one time, didn't help that I was 14 beers into the day. Think I got about 6" under water before I finally said eff it, this isn't my thing  Never tried again, would have been lower 30's at the time. No way I'd try it again 15 years later.

My first attempt was late afternoon and the water looked like a sheet of glass. I got up and my uncle took me around Conesus lake twice! Because I was terrified of falling or letting go. Sure it would be like bouncing off concrete. My arms and legs were so soar the next day I could barely move...lol

Places an order for in store pick up at autozone to get after work today. One of the liftgate struts on my wife’s SUV started leaking fluid and the liftgate wasn’t staying up. I ordered two since they were the only ones in stock at any autopart store from any chain when a 30 mile radius of my house.

Get to the store, my order receipt clearly shows that I ordered two. Only one was pulled for pick up by the in store employee. Someone else came and bought that last one on the shelf that was supposed to with my order. Autozone had to refund me the order of the two, I had to pay for the one I did get on a new order. Get home and install it, it bends and now the brand new one won’t hold the liftgate up. So now I have to go return this in the morning before we go out of town.

Fortunately, I think I found a place along the way that has them in stock. Until then, holding the liftgate open while we load the car in the morning.

I'm working on the office today, in the hotel workspace (you reserve the cube/office) and some new guy shows up. He's loud. Worse, he doesn't have a head set, so every call is on speaker...
