Posts started popping up on last year’s LFTS thread so I figured why not start this year’s thread. I’ve already started tweaking some of my gear and getting ready for the upcoming season. I don’t have any cameras out yet but they’ll be going up soon.
On another note, I’ll probably be selling my Heli-m for next to nothing. A good friend lost all of his hunting gear in a fire yesterday. He’s way older than I am, retired and can’t afford a lot. I almost offered to give it to him but it does have a Spot Hogg Fast Eddie XL sight and a QAD Ultrarest on it, so I just said $300. He insisted that was too low. It kind of breaks my heart to part with it. We’ve been through a lot together.
LETS GOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! So pumped and ready to go for this season! I got an E-bike to get me to my deep spots faster and more frequently. Now I'm just sorting out a few details on how to pack everything for the ride in!
It's happening! I'm going to give it a couple months before I dive in. I did help put in a couple acres of food plots for deer and sunflower for dove season. Brand new plots in poor soil, so not alot of hope for first year. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Can't wait for the season to start, 130!!! days away!!! Good luck Adam , don't be picky this year, shoot straight
Well since I love this thing I call hunting, I have become a hunter ED instructor ,as of April. It's all volunteer time, however when I went to get my hunting license for this year and the Pa Game Commission gave me a discount on the license. I don't say this a lot but thank you Pa game Commission. Resident license is $20.97 so it cost me $2.97.
Off to an event this weekend , CAMO CARES. 3 D ARCHERY SHOOT THAT RAISES MONEY TO TAKE VETERANS AND CHILDREN with disabilities on a dream hunt.
Not bad. Been working non stop so I can take time off in fall. Got back to mountain biking again this year and started racing alittle again. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
I'm running way behind this year. Usually have cameras out by now but busy with 8 month old baby, work, and trapping beavers for a landowner. Hoping to set some cameras out this weekend. Ordered a V3X and it should be here in a couple weeks. Like to be ahead of the game but pumped for this season!
I made a decision.... no cameras this year . That said none until hunting season starts then all the property line cams will get new batteries a and cards. I know I have deer because while working the fields Lots of droppings were in the clovers and two different rye grain plots have nearly all the seed heads snipped off. Stalks still standing just seed heads gone.
I stopped using cameras about 4 years ago. I prefer the element of surprise, reading the sign that is provided, and I've learned quite a bit from doing so.
CLS Man this IL property looks phenomenal. Minus the access part...haha. If the landowner gets that squared away, that property looks money. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/0-Blacklock-Rd-Vergennes-IL-62994/2063043320_zpid/ Told the wife today, that if in three years she has been successful and we feel we want to stay for the long haul in MO, then I want to buy some land to supplement my public land hunting. Land prices appear pretty affordable.
. Me too, that's why I was always saying don't pay attention to the date time stamp...they were never right...lol Also why I have so many stands. I am pretty darn good at placing them in travel areas. I play the considerable winds so never know until I leave where I'll be. I enjoy calling to attract. Making certain noises on the way in and on stand to draw attention. Some times I carry a bag with rocks in it of different sizes and toss them out every so often. It's amazing what animals that will draw in from deer to squirrel....especially on a real quiet dry leaf day.
