Now that the wife has finished the trail I’m getting my boat ready for another three or four day fishing trip to Tennessee. After that I want to head to my brother’s place in Flippin, AR and fish Bull Shoals for a few days. The walleye should be biting soon if they aren’t already.
Besides going for a little hike on the mountain on Monday and coming across elk that’s been about it. Went over the mountain to help my son that lives in Helper. Did one of the many projects at the house here. Next weekend I hope to get ice fishing with the boys.
Ice fishing? Wow. It’s 72 degrees here and we’re sitting on the deck in t-shirts. I did add a little patriotic bling to my boat today:
Very nice I raked the yard Picked up trash that has collected thru the winter in the woods Trimmed yucky saplings (my wife was pointing them out as if I could not see them) Started the irrigation system Added corn to the feeder And sold two ladder stands that I had not used for years Productive day Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hey guys, just checking in. I spent last week in Ft. Lauderdale with all the Spring breakers. Wow. It is not the place to go if you have a heart condition. lol. We had a great time just relaxing at the pool and eating at some amazing steak and seafood restaurants. We flew down on a private plane with friends and decided to come home a day early because our weather back home was going to be in the 70's and I was really wanting to go fishing. I took a couple of friends out to the new pond and we had a ball catching the rainbows that were stocked last Fall. They were smashing small spinners and fight hard in the cold water. Now we are socked in with a couple of days of rain. When it clears up, I will be putting in some new mineral sites and freshening up the rest. I have used Lester's product (Rakk Fuel) for several years and I encourage you to give it a try. Best results I have ever had. Soybean seed and sorghum seed is in the shed and ready for Spring planting. I also have some clover to put in. It will be so nice this year to have some additional time to get ready for deer season. Enjoy your Spring!
Very nice Fletch! I’m here at my daughter’s house in Tennessee on another fishing trip. I brought home 25 bass yesterday including a 20” 4 1/2 pounder. Today I only brought home 20. I’m going again tomorrow and my son in law is going to join me. He had never fished before he met me and now I’m thinking I’ve created a monster. It’s hard to get him to leave the lake. Here’s the haul from yesterday and today:
Thanks! Today was the last day and probably my last fishing trip to Tennessee for a while. We ended up bringing 21 more bass home today but we had to work our butts off for them. The wind was out of the NE and it was tough. Putting the two trips together we brought home 173 fish in seven days of fishing. It was a lot of fun and I’m stocked up on fillets now.
LC, That is a great catch you had there. We are headed out to go ice fishing hopefully we do half as well as you did.
Good luck!! I’m about to make the 3 1/2 hour drive home. After fighting the wind with the trolling motor the past few days my back is looking forward to my recliner.
Thanks LC We had a good trip today. My son my granddaughter and my sons brother-in-law went. My sons brother-in-law is from Peru so ice fishing was quite an experience for him. We caught around 40 trout or so and 14 perch. We only kept the fish you see there.
Sounds like you had a fantastic fishing trip also! Believe it or not I’ve never even tried trout. I wouldn’t even know how to cook it. I don’t believe folks fillet them and southern fry the fillets.
Believe it or not I’ve never even tried trout. I wouldn’t even know how to cook it. I don’t believe folks fillet them and southern fry the fillets. [/QUOTE] I loved Southern fried fillets. when we go to our family reunions in Kansas we do a great big fish fry with catfish and bass fillets. I grew up in the west so most my fishing is trout related. Trout is a stronger tasting fish. So some fish like tilapia I don’t care for because to me it doesn’t taste. You can fillet trout but I usually just gut them and put them on the barbecue. I’m lucky cause my wife loves fresh fish. LC if you’re ever out in Utah let me know and we’ll go trout fishing
That is an awesome day on the ice! So fun to share it with family too. I just got back to the office after a trip to Scheel's where I picked up a new fly rod and all the gear to learn the art. I am in hopes of catching quite a few of the rainbows out of my pond before summer. I think catching bass and panfish on the fly rod would be a lot of fun also. Time will tell if I have the knack. A buddy of mine put some of our trout on his Traeger grill and they were the best trout I have ever eaten. I am now a lot more excited about bringing them home.
Next week is our Spring Break here. (My wife is a school teacher) I pulled the trailer out west for a few days of camping. It was great weather So I decided to shoot a little bit. I only shot 20 and 30 yards. I felt pretty good about it
