I have the right wind for a move on the buck this afternoon. Im all set up. I moved 68 yards west of where I shot the buck last time and I can see his trail in the remaining snow 26 yards west. I’m thinking he has another creek crossing farther west. All I can do is hope he’s still here, hope he still has his antlers and hope he comes my way. Here we go.
No. The other spot. I have a stand at the car body for tomorrow morning. I’m staying out of here in the mornings.
Well, it would be pretty cool to ride the bike out of that spot with two bucks this late in the year.
Two details: I’m 30 feet up and I faced my climber away from where he should come from. I’ll just stand and watch from behind the tree.
Thanks. I’m gonna need it. The odds are stacked against me. I barely got the other buck and he was only a 2 year old. This is a mature buck. He’ll be a wizard at picking me off.
I’ll give him a couple more afternoons. I’m sure he doesn’t follow the exact same path every day. There’s also the chance that we messed the spot up recovering the buck last time I was here. He should have been long gone but you never know. That’s hunting I guess. I’ll be back out in a different stand in the morning.
First night back, don’t sweat it. He’ll do the same thing again. Just stick em b4 he knows your there !
Once again nothing is moving. I’ll sit until 9:30 or so because I’m here, but I don’t expect anything to move now.
I’m up in a different spot for the pm sit. After three sits seeing nothing I’m hoping something comes by. Any legal deer will do this afternoon.
All the deer moved to NC... No lie, I probably saw a dozen deer this morning... And another from my office well out in the woods.
I saw two feeding to me but they didn’t get close to in range before dark. It took a while to get back online. We went to recover a doe a buddy shot It turned out to be a shed buck. Still, it was a lot of fun tracking and recovering a deer.
