This is not going good. Been on good spraying blood for almost 2 hours. I've jumped her 3 times. Now it's dark and getting hard to follow. Easily over a mile so far. Keep hoping she will get weak and stop. With this much blood lose, don't know how she is still going.

Just jumped her again at 20 yards. She didn't run far, maybe 50 yards

Still on blood. Gone anther 150 yards since I jumped her last. Bloods getting really hard to follow now.

I would like to leave her, but I can hear coyotes and fox off in the distance. If I leave her, not sure much will be left. Had a fox blood trailing behind me for awhile.

I'm calling it. What a season I'm having. I lost blood and was having hard time picking it back up. I couldn't find the arrow, it went down in a marsh. So from what I saw and the type of blood, this is what I think I hit. She was broadside at 25 yards. I aimed a little high right on the shoulder with 20 yard pin. Right when I shot the deer lounged forward instead of dropping. I thought I saw the arrow enter mid body high. Head a huge pop, thinking I hit lungs. What I probably really hit was one lung and liver. The blood was dark red and once and awhile I would find pink blood. One of the best blood trails I have had in a long time, it just never ended. I know the area she is in, so going back in morning to hopefully recover her, if another predator doesn't find it first.

Okay, first I apologize for not posting sooner. It’s been a heck of an evening.

    No, I didn’t kill a deer. I missed a doe.

I thought I was being so smart stashing my bike right at the base of my tree. I thought it was a good idea. In Kentucky and Missouri the deer ignored it. This is Wattensaw though, and the deer aren’t stupid.

At 4:10 a doe appeared 50 yards away in thick cover. She appeared to be locked in on the base of my tree. She bobbed her head, stomped and carried on for at least 10 minutes. I finally realized she was looking at the bike trying to figure out what it was.

Finally she started to circle. She walked to my right and she was heading to an opening. I ranged the path and I ranged 30 yards. I adjusted my sight and got in position.

She walked into the opening and I drew my bow. She stopped with her head behind a tree and I had time to take careful aim. I touched the release. She ducked just a little and my arrow sailed just over her back.

She bounced out to 50 yards and then started to come in again. I guess she was determined to find out what that weird thing on the ground was.

She got to 35 yards but I didn’t want to try to thread the needle on that shot. She finally ran off.

After she left I ranged the arrow and even after shooting over her the arrow was only 28 yards away. That means she was under 25 yards.

I don’t know how I ranged so far off but I did.

A few minutes later a group of four does came in and the lead doe did the same thing. This old girl was smart though and didn’t give me a shot.

She finally decided that between the weird thing on the ground and the glowing light on the stick in the ground there was a just too much wrong.

She bounced out and started blowing. I just waited until they were gone and climbed down.

Lesson learned AGAIN. These Wattensaw deer aren’t stupid. Park the bike somewhere else.

Still, it’s not a bad strategy. If I’d put the bike 40 yards away they would have been in chip shot range focused on the bike and not looking up.

I wandered if the deer were seeing your bike when you posted the picture of it at the base of your tree. Maybe you need a Ghillie blanket to throw over it or hide it under some brush. Old does definitely can spot something out of the ordinary. Good luck this morning Chief.
