I'm letting him lay for the night. Bears are not a problem. Coyote or Fox could get at him, but he's in a deep ravine with a creek. I could here the ice breaking. I dont think that predators will find him in the water. The neighbors house is also right next to the ravine which should also keep predators away. Lastly, I'm not supposed to shoot after dark so , there's that. I'll wait till shooting time tomorrow just in case he's still alive. Also, I lost one Buck this year cause I pushed him, gonna try the other option and wait this time.
Congrats on the doe Vermont! Sounds like you are making the right choice on the buck. Hopefully you find him dead in the creek tomorrow morning!
I would 10x over rather find a coyote-ate deer the next morning than never find a deer I bumped b/c I pushed him too early.
Once again, I’m all set up. Looking forward to seeing how things work out for @vermontwhitetail this morning.
Up for morning sit, made an adjustment after dark last night and moved about 30 yards closer to where I saw the deer last night.
100" Main Frame 8pt. Latest in the season I've ever shot a Buck. Also, the even year Buck harvesting continues. What a way to start 2022!!! Lastly, liver entry, last rib exit. A fox did eat his tail and but hole off, plenty of excellent meat left.
Just had four bucks come out of the cedar thicket. Two were shooters. Never got closer than 60. One that was not legal got to 40. They went back in after one of the bucks hit my scent in the road. Didnt blow or act panicked. Just turned around and went back.
