I'd say coyotes are a definite yes, not many places in IL where they are not thick. Think I recall him telling LC he was east of St. Louis, might have a healthy bobcat population as well as they are thriving down in southern IL.
Dang @Shocker99, exciting stuff for this thread mid December! Hope he is laying close by to where you last saw him!
Ok i did the when in doubt back out thing. I still may go back tonight. I forgot i had my phone pulled out when i first saw him to look at time when i saw the doe. Then i saw him so i tried to take a real quick snapshot then put phone in pocket. Its blurry but you can make out the outline of his face. I also managed to capture point of impact. First pic i zoomed into his face. You can see the white patch above his nose and make out his frame. This grass is higher than it looks too. The brown weeds in the distance are 6-8 ft tall. Second pic shows point of impact. After ranging from ground to my tree it was 35 ish yds i shot for 38-40. Third pic shows some of his escape in green. The tree in the left of the frame close to me obstructed my view when he stopped running. He headed the way im facing in that high grass when i lost sight.
Im gonna head into where i last saw him. And track very slowly. I have 2 hr break in this rain then….. thats at 4pm
That pic of the tall weeds help explain why you don't want to go to the last place you saw him. It's not open enough to see if he's piled up. But on the other hand, perhaps glassing his trail out, you might be able to make out his path-if you had a climber, you could get above the weeds to see farther. Hope you get your hands on him!
Good luck Our wind came way down and it's a good west breeze for the blind I've been hunting. This session ends on the 21 then we have another the 26 till the 1st. I got a lot of cleaning done today dear lord even one kitchen cabinet So as long as winds are good I'll be out the next few days. Man the things you find in the back of cabinets. A big box of crap went to the porch for the dumpster. Cross your fingers that at least a 6 comes by me tonight. Yep I passed a few small 8 earlier. But hubby just requested jerky. and,we have, the deer freezer running for sons deer any ways.
Got in at 3:30. Dead quiet. Like 1- 2 mph wind. 43° . Wish it was colder. A couple just drove through their pasture behind me in their golf cart 5 minutes ago. Have a feeling I'm not going to see much tonight. We will see. Hopefully I'm wrong. Sent from my SM-G965U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Sitting with the .450 tonight. Does only with gun. Beautiful night. Hardly a breeze. Christmas vacation just started!....2 weeks.
Oh boy glad hubby just got home from eye Dr. Just before he arrived I had a big wht. King cab pick up slow and, stop infront of the drive. Then drive real slow up the hill. Good thing about hunting at home during the holidays. I can watch the road and house. A.J has woke us up 2 and 4 a few times this week. He had his nastiest bark growl going as he went from window to window.
I’m back in a tree in Kentucky. I wasn’t going to hunt this afternoon but when I got here the rain had stopped and it isn’t supposed to rain again until 7;00 or 8:00.
Trying a new spot this afternoon. It’ll be interesting as I’ll be hunting from the ground with no blind but I’ve got pics of a shooter the last two days coming thru so fingerscrossed he follows the script tonight! It’s warm and what wind their is is blowing in my face. Good luck PM shift.
Who cares what he scores, that's an awesome buck! So glad you were able to find him. Congrats!! Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
