I’m still heading to Farmington Kentucky tomorrow for a week long hunting trip. Farmington is about 8 miles SW of Mayfield, KY where the tornado did so much damage. I talked to the farmer this morning and they didn’t get any damage at all but there is no power so I’ll have to take my generators along. I only need one and I’ll see if someone else there can use the other.
Everybody else considers the Midwest as flyover states... How does it feel? Totally joking though, clearly we all need to stay safe and out of the storms if we can avoid it. Central MN just got socked with a bunch of snow yesterday/last night. I've never even thought about having to hunt with the possibility of surviving a tornado. I've witnessed those things up close and personal, nothing to be trifled with. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
You should see the whole pack. There’s: Roxy - Great Pyrenees Rico - Shepherd mix Little Ann - Redbone Elly May - Beagle Kaya - Australian Shepherd Dizzy - Pomchi. Dizzy is my baby. If I lose cool points for that I don’t care at all. Here she is right now as I type this:
A suicidal doe or three would be great about now.... Heck, even a squirrel barking would be a nice...
Had a doe and a little 5pt come in just as I sent my last message. Got close to letting an arrow fly on the doe, just didn’t offer a great shot. They all wondered off about 30 min ago and I’m glad they did. Had to slip out and handle some urgent business. Thank goodness I had a roll of TP in my pack… Back in the blind for another hour or two. Hoping for some mid-late morning movement with these cold temps and calm NW wind.
Not a shot fired today in the duck blind. Kinda surprised after seeing so many last night. Few groups of mallards worked us but the wind was brutal and they were using it to their advantage. Never would drop in on us. Back to the deer woods tomorrow.
I’m out for today. Those 3 deer came back around 10am and hung around for a good 30 minutes before leaving. Just couldn’t bring myself to shoot that doe since she still had a fawn with her. Fun morning hunt anyways, youngest has a basketball game at 2:00 so Doubtful I’ll be able to make it back out this evening. Good luck PM shift!
Yeah, my season isn't to good either. 2 Doe in NJ, 1 Doe in VT. Didnt take the Funky Buck down and cant find another Buck to save myself. Buttttttttt, back at it this afternoon. Kids didn't want to go out with Muzzys in the rain. So im out on the home farm in the Turnip plot. Deer have been here but almost totally nocturnal. Its been raining hard since 0700, fog and drizzle now. Hoping the one nice 8pt will get up now and feed. Good luck whoever is out here with me.
sounds like my season, but yours sounds better - 1 doe early season and passed on smaller bucks. Now all deer (bucks included) are nocturnal. have fun with the kids!
Good luck on the recovery! Bucks in December, Santa's sleigh is gonna have a pull to one direction this year
