South west Illinois i guess youd call it. Just east of the dump of a city St Louis. Bout 2/3 the way down the state
I’m finally down. The laser pointer came in handy again. I was hoping they would feed on away but they really liked what was there.
Well crap. Was planning on being in a stand about 2 today. Layed down for a nap at noon and zoned out hard. Didn't get in till 2:30. Was stoking the woodstove just before I left, looked out the back window and out walks the buck I messed up on nov14. He just walked under the stand I was going to. He left bedding to go ?? Then a few does followed. Waited for them to clear out and walked the 150 yards and climbed in. Was slow till 4:15 and then the woods came alive. I made up my mind today I'm gonna kill the next (decent ) buck. A wider but shortened 5x5 came out shadowing a doe. Grabbed my bow and he just hung up at 20 yards in thick brush. Don't know how long it took but guessing 15 minutes before he gave me a good shot but by then, I was shivering purty bad and the shot "just didn't feel right" so I didn't shoot. Already passed him up several times this year so no biggie but I just wanna be done this year. Hell, tomarro, a big doe might flip the switch? Snow, cold and high winds next 24 hours. Might be enough to keep me from the cabin rest of this winter?
Rain coming tomorrow night in ky so I’m out in the morning. Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting .com Forums
Thanks Jim, I trust your feeling fine? She didn’t even see a deer. She’s had a rough go of it so far this season. Only seen deer on one sit out of seven but she will only sit in ladder stands.
Today is the best day I've had in two weeks. I got the antibody infusion last Tuesday. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
She seems determined gal. love it! Good to hear PJ. Lots of that covid crap going around here now. Sitting here in the cabin cooking supper, drinking beer, listening to DeeSnyders "house of hair". Trying to talk myself into introducing the next deer I get a shot at the new covid variant "Muzzy"?
Ain't that the truth. Or, and this should fit you a little better, "Sometimes you get the bear. Sometimes the bear gets you." So far this has been a real "bug" season for me. I'm hoping that will change when I head to Kentucky on the 11th. If deer are moving at all I plan to shove the kill switch into the on position so it sticks. Multiple deer will die if they show themselves. The farmer wants them all dead and I have a lot of pent up frustration to take out on them.
Nailed it on the "bear" thing LC. Totally my fault I was the "bug" this year.lol, Thanks for the reminder. Here it is, Dec 4 and I still have a clean quiver of arrows. Been 35+ years since that's happened.
It's been a tough year for a lot of folks depending on where they are, but my tough year has nothing to do with location. It happened because I made a lot of bad shots. It started with a botched shot on a giant 150-160" 8 point early in the season and it all went downhill from there. After that I second-guessed and over-thought every shot opportunity I had. Some of them worked out and some of them went south. I have no-one to blame but myself, but I WILL get this straightened out and get back on track before the season ends, and I have a lot of season left. Bow season doesn't close in Arkansas until the end of February.
