Our with the orange army in Michigan today and tomorrow then back to work until thanksgiving. Decent movement so far, one nice buck out in the cut corn right at daylight. Couldn’t tell if it was a shooter or not.
Man that was close Joe, good luck the rest of the hunt. At least you were ready. I had a six point come into 40 yards Friday afternoon as I was getting in the tree. I watched him cruise by as I was strapping my third stick to the tree, bow on the ground.
Looks like an old scrape got opened back up and there is a fresh one to my right with some antler marks on the tree. Sent from my Z719DL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Gun season started in MI this morning. Heard 4 shots in first 2 hours of light! Quiet morning. Not what I was expecting. The past 2 weekends I sat back here. Both days I watched a variety of deer for 2 hours straight. Slept OK. Sitting all day. Hoping for midday action.
Hearing some turkeys off in the distance. Otherwise pretty quiet. Sent from my Z719DL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
My one hour turned into 2. To much action to leave. Seen 3 real good buck on the newborn chasing does in a cut cornfield. Was hoping one would swing by but they didn't. Did have 4 bucks come by including the young 10 from yesterday. Great sit this morning.
Got out of my stand and moved near the creek. There's still some apples kicking around here. Hopefully something is looking for lunch. I'll give it a hour here then heading back home. Sent from my Z719DL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app

I’m sitting till noon then gotta head home. I have a midterm due tomorrow night, not even halfway done. Lol
At this time of the year I feel we sometimes just keep pounding the trees and start losing our most valuable asset, our brains. Instead of thinking through each hunt, we just want to get into a tree to get time in the tree. I feel I do much better when I take each hunt by themselves as an adventure, and not just a war of attrition to kill a buck. Each hunt is valuable. Maybe Im just talking to myself so I won't be a donkey. haha
i think through every hunt, my reasoning for the spot I’m going to and why I think a deer will be going through that spot that day. Wind direction, speed and temperature factor into the analysis. I came to this spot today due to the predicted east wind and time of year. September and October on buttshot ridge is a waste of time. Bucks use it during the rut to scent check the swamp in the morning with a East wind. I was correct this morning, but the buck veered off the run for some reason and cut my scent trail.
Well nada here, just a mob of squirrel all around me and what sounded like a screech owl/yote howl. That owl must have e a cold...weird...Lol. I was wet but comfy warm until the snow, then avalanches from wind blown trees blew through two pairs of gloves. Wet hands = got to to home. Red chapped and stiff. . Tracked fresh prints on way out and found a section they are traveling I have ground blinds in. An area I haven't hunted in probably 2 yrs.. . With the on going snow they used this area well before light. Son went to camp alone...drew down on a doe but mistakenly thought her too small. Too bad, camp deer are way smaller in body size than these farm deer we are use to seeing. ...He's kicking him self....
I’ve got a couple and really like them. So far they’ve been very reliable and take good pics and you can’t beat the price compared to most other cell cams.
Lol! I’ve got plenty of season left now. Tomorrow is the last day of archery in these woods. I’m going outside my comfort zone to a archery only spot that is open till January. I’m usually burnt out by now, but I think by NOT doing all day sits has kept my drive alive this year!
