Broke free of lockdown with Mrs MUD, now getting ready to hit the cornfield edge. Do a little sniffing around. Ha ha ha. Be in a tree soon. Happy Veterans day to all the VET'S. Thank You
About to head in, rain has stopped but the wind machine is cranking up. I will sit a stand that I moved a couple days ago in the bottom along the swamp. Good luck everyone!
How many stands do you have? Seems like a lot. Must be like playing whack a mole trying to decide where to sit.
Tomorrow's weather here is the kind of set up I would normally not even think of not hunting. Guess I'll just go prep some venison to throw on the smoker instead. I might try to ambush a doe from the ground in the evening after work. Good luck yall. I'm following along as usual. Sent from my SM-G781V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Yes,yes he is and I'm glad he's still on his feet. More glad he is now marking our place as part of his territory. Not too happy I have not seen an adult doe on our place in,many, many days. I had more doe sightings yesterday at camp than all of Oct here.
Wait for it............43 stands , blinds, both elevated and ground. I set my land up as blocks, each has a different type of land and vegetation. In each block I set stands up for wind direction all within sight of each other I then have at least one enclosed blind to cover bad weather. The ground blinds are set to give cover if I catch deer out in front of me where I want to go. For both deer and Turkey this has saved some hunts and filled the freezer. To be honest...there are so many of these stands, "bird nest" ground blinds that the deer don't pay them attention it's just part of there surroundings. That buck in pic, he was headed for and 20 yrds from the stand I fixed, 40 yards from another stand parallel to that. Look past him and you'll see the gypsy blind behind him.
I should mention....I have found beds in the brush ground "bird nest" blinds. They make great winter wind blocks for them and this west/north / west facing hill gets a lot of wind.
no luck for me this morning while in the tree, did some scouting and bumped a bedded doe in an area that i scouted last spring, this is the 4th or 5th time I've bumped doe out of here. Doe bedding area confirmed, tried to get a camera up in there but the stupid thing wouldnt get signal and the regular cam i brought didn't have a card in it... marked a tree to set up in off a pretty well used trail coming from the bedding. May give it a shot some morning before work
Sounds like you have definitely worked hard to make a good habitat for your deer. Great job! Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Rain has moved out. I just got sit up on a long narrow ridge with acorns falling like crazy. This will be my last afternoon hunt of the trip.
Good luck guys....winds are just getting worse here...just don't want to be in the woods blind or Not, in this.
