So everytime I go to or from the "buddy stand" I pass this tree. On the trail it is atop an incline going up and flattening out a bit before a gradual decline. Deer use the trails made by and for humans more than the humans do. It's looking over a fairly steep drop off, in front, but behind me is a gradual rise of a hillside. No clue where the stamd was or which direction it faced, but can't help but wonder what would be seen if a new stand took its place. Wasn't always about lone wolf's and climbers, sometimes a few nails, screws and scraps of lumber was all that you needed. My first deer kill was a triangle platform of 2×4's nailed into 3" tree trunks 9 feet up.
Came back to stuff my face and now off to do the dirty work. Little good luck blood for you morning hunters.
I am in Ohio. I still have my PA tag but bucks like this are hard to come by in PA. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
There's a cpuple stands still able to be used on the property that the tree holds the stand rather than straps/hardware. Makes me realize I know jack chit when it comes to hunting how it used to be. 35 years ago hunting in IL was comparable to hunting in a low density state today. May get quality but numbers were not there.
