Missed a doe this morning. Followed the playbook perfect, just struggles finding the pin in low light. Thing I need to work seriously on my target panic too. Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk
Shot for a while, I struggle sitting and shooting, loose some consistency. But still very killable shots. Will be back out tomorrow am. Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk
I have always wanted to walk the 150 yards from my house to the first fire break and just set up and watch. Saturday the wind wasn't really right for the few spots on this particular public spot I wanted to try out so I did just that. Wind wasn't really right probably for that either and I didn't see squat lol felt good to be out though. I'll be hitting a mix of public and private next weekend I have a four day weekend coming up followed by two 5 day weekends then the following weekend is shotgun then Thanksgiving. I will hunt alot and kill some deer hopefully.
Didn't get out this am, had to take one of the kiddos to the ER, she's fine now, just needed some steroids for her breathing. Covid sucks. Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk
So this was the score breakdown for my deer. He was a tad smaller than I thought, but still a very good buck for the pine country of the Black Hills. The deer in this region do not have the benefit of corn and grain fields to munch on. Typically, a deer scoring from 115 to 125 inches is considered a toad. I thought my deer was somewhere in the teens as I studied him during his approach . This is the disadvantage a hunter has when hunting in far off lands. You never know what is going to show up and if it will meet your expectations. I guess that's why, for me, the adventure is more the trophy than what I am pursuing. Right...........Left........ Difference MB 18 2/8.....18 4/8...... 0 2/8 G1 3 6/8.......3 2/8.........0 4/8 G2 6 1/8.......6 7/8........ 0 6/8 G3 4 7/8...... 4 1/8.........0 6/8 Mass H1 3 5/8........3 5/8......... 0 H2 3 3/8....... 3 2/8 .........1/8 H3 3 2/8....... 3 0/8......... 2/8 H4 2 2/8....... 2 0/8......... 2/8 Inside spread 15 6/8 Total Net Score: 103 5/8 On Sunday, I was blessed with sitting in stand with camera in hand while my hunting partner tried to fill his tag (he missed three shots). I hope everyone doesn't mind me sharing some photos. There's a lot of cool stuff to hunt out here! If anyone wants to head west next year, by all means, let me know. I love to share!
Awesome pictures!! Today is going to be a long day.. I head up tonight for my first 5 day weekend of the year. Had a ton of movement last weekend, just not the bucks that I was looking for. I will be getting more aggressive a couple sits this weekend when the wind and weather cooperates. If I don't get a buck on the ground tomorrow or thursday, I will be adding does to the hit list friday and saturday.
Had 2 small 8 pters in range yesterday. Today I had a shooter at 40..no shot ops. Back at it tomorrow or Thurs Good luck everyone!
I’m in tomorrow afternoon just before the rain and probably into the rain as long as there is no lightning.
I was out twi days ago, no shots. Now I go into 4 24 hour shifts working every other day, and then we are headed to Madison for the Hawkeye game. But that next week of New moon, start of run, should be deadly. Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk
Been up at my grandparents hunting yesterday and today. Three shooters seen so far, just not in range. Tomorrow morning opens the gates for a doe as well. Hasn’t been great weather so far, but tomorrow morning will be 20 degrees colder than this morning so it’s looking up
I was ran out of my stand by lightning and thunder last night. Will be back out tomorrow afternoon. Weather and wind has been cooperating.
I am off to Wyoming this coming weekend to fill the two antelope doe tags I have. I applied for a buck tag as well, but the draw did not go my way. Pics pending...Stay after it everyone. The chase is about to start. We need to be out there!
