I know I've been slow to make it to the stand this year, so far. I will make up for that. There's just a lot to do with our kiddos and the weather hasn't lined up with that schedule yet. I've asked Mother Nature for some help. So far she hasn't listened very well. It appears that next weekend is shaping up to be a pretty nice weekend weather wise. It would be Sunday afternoon if I have a chance. Granted, this is the Midwest and it's October as well as 9 days away. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it holds true or is cooler than forecasted. Getting ready for my class then a road trip to St. Louis for our Son's hockey tournament. Good Luck to everyone that gets out this weekend!!! Stack'em up!

Can’t wait until 1:00. I’m done for the week and hitting the stand tonight and tomorrow am. Leaving around noon tomorrow to head to bucknell university to watch my sons college golf tournament. They have 3 in the next month that are close enough to drive to so ride and are are planning to attend.

I'll be 24 hours behind you. Now to make the decision of which stand to hunt from, inside corner of recently picked corn field, or pinch point between the two fields... decisions, decisions.

Sorry, drive an hour and 20 minutes to only look at my phone and find out it is youth shotgun weekend and I had no orange with me. I got in he stand at 0530 and heard a shotgun blast at 0708. Check phone and scampered out around 0800 just to do and observation. I saw nothing coming back to bedding, but really I probably would not have for another 30-45 minutes. So all that is to say 0 for day one.

My daughter came home for the weekend so don't think I'll be getting out. I did make it out the other day and had a basket 6 walk around but that's it. Stupid heat

Drainage project complete… What a mess.

Before. Nice little 45 degree angle, smaller pipe, concrete shoved in the joint.

    4C0B5569-AE02-4C5F-B295-949DF5DD2AAE.jpeg

During… All the pipe had rotted out causing sink holes and other issues.

After… Well kinda it’s all covered with dirt now but it was quite the job basically took all my weekend and around $5k All-in.

Back to hunting! Unfortunately looking at mid-70’s for highs all week but Friday/Sat/Sun looks like the first real cooling trend and I plan to be in a tree for it!

I need to do the same on my pond dam. The whistle (overflow) has rusted out and collapsed. All the water is running over the spillway right now.... I have a pretty good sinkhole in the top face of the dam. Has me a little nervous...

I’m back. Had a nice weekend with the wife at my son’s golf tournament. Unfortunately we couldn’t stay to watch the final round tomorrow he is playing really well. Won’t get much done at work tomorrow I’ll be following his live scoring. A few things to take care of tomorrow and hoping to be back in the woods on Wednesday after work. I did get out Saturday morning before we left and saw a few deer. Had a small 5 pointer walk past at 20 yards. Stopped perfectly and smelled where I walked in. Evercalm must have covered my scent because he didn’t spook. Wished he was bigger cause he’d be dead !!
Buck is going down soon. I can feel it!!!!

Evercalm is literally the only commercial scent that I will use in the Whitetail woods. Has been that way for a long time now. Sometimes put it on my boots. Sometimes put it on the tree I’m sitting in. Always touch up mock scrapes with it.

I have been kicking around creating a vanilla based scent to use like ever calm.

Tomorrow is going to be a good day of discovery/scouting plus hunting the pm shift. I really want to figure out an area that looks like it should be deer central... going to still hunt/scout for several hours in the morning at one spot, then shift back to the newly discovered rubs/scrapes/assumed bedding area I found on Sunday morning. If I find a good buck in the morning and put a good stalk on it, great!

I’m in a holding pattern. The truck needed to be inspected by the end of the month. Leaving to hunt in Ohio next week so needed to get it done. Well it needs front end work so I’m on hold until it gets done.

No loaner? Next time, drive up to central MN and we'll do the work and hook you up with a sweet, brand new Silverado to drive around in while you wait for the work to get done. Quality service with a smile!

I’m dealing with a bunch of used car salesman now. Trying to find my daughter a good used car after that idiot pulled out in front of her and trashed hers to the point of no return. I can’t help but feel like I’m getting ripped off for some reason or other. I think we did just find a descent guy that is really trying to work with us. Hopefully we have something by the weekend. This could potentially cut into my tree time.
