    Congrats!

That tree is awesome! Reminds me of my first "antlered" kill. Friend/co-worker snuck me onto their lease, said it was all good but when land owner showed up it told another story

Anyhow, was hunting an inside corner of a cut corn field. Watched probably 6 different 1 1/2 year olds come out and work scrapes on the edge. Grunted at one and he came in behind at 15 yds. Let one fly and no clue what happened. Couldn't find arrow or blood, but I was sure I hit it. Friend wanted to leave on the miss but I was determined.

Finally found one drop of blood and then got on my hands and knees and continued to search. Every few feet I would find a drop, maybe the size of an M&M. Lost all blood towards the end but continued the way he was heading. After about 15yds of no sign at all I seen a small patch of red on a sappling, headed to it and flashed the flashlight around and there was a 3" diameter tree that had about 18" of it brushed red. 3 yds beyond there he lay. 1 1/2 year old 6 point, died in the drainage ditch right off the field edge and could drive up to it. 10 yd drag

Was 2009 and remember it like yesterday, I love this sport!

Gunnar and I made it to the blind around 4:15. All of his snacks and drinks and patience were gone by 5. At 6 he informed me that he had to poop, but I convinced him to hold it for 20 more minutes. I was mentally preparing for the early departure when 2 does popped out into the field at 20-25 yards. He sat dead quiet while they surveyed the area and made their way into the blind window for a shot.

Shot looked good, but we celebrated before watching where the doe ran. I had trouble finding blood after initial impact and panicked a little. I ran Gunnar home and started calling everybody I could think of for help...even a dog. No takers. I went back out with a clearer head and good flashlight and got right on blood. 70 yards later she was piled up under a tree and pressed against the property line fence.

The whole family came out for trophy photos, but Gunnar was the most excited out of everybody.
