I can't even think about hunting with this bullchit. Crops make it even worse with the humidity, get me to 60's with 40's for dewpoints or cooler.
Hmm...another 135" 3 year old is going to test me this year. Didn't work out so hot for his buddy last season.
I haven’t shot my bow, or gotten stands hung. Hopefully that changes this week. Btw guys my phone doesn’t let me copy and paste on this app for some reason. So don’t think I’m being lazy on the sign up thread Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Or maybe you’re way ahead? Seemed like the year I didn’t run any cams my first sits were dynamite. Some times the cameras mess with my head and make me think too highly of a spot or too lowly of a spot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just out of curiosity has any thought been given to allowing other types of deer to be checked in under the fergie clause? Obviously Whitetails and Mule Deer can be checked as your buck for scoring purposes but for example a lot of my hunting season focuses on free range sika deer in Maryland. There is no officially scoring system for sika deer that I am aware of but if I have already checked my Whitetail or Mule Deer buck for the 1 buck you are allowed would any consideration be taken to allowing people who harvest free range sika deer to the fergie clause for 50 points? I know I am a small portion of the contest as most people are hunting Whitetails and Mule Deer but just a thought....Any opinions? If it was to be allowed you could possible consider adding free range Axis deer from Hawaii to the fergie clause as well?
No, of course not. Being a Grizzled Veteran automatically waives any requirement to shoot your bow, hang cameras, scout or even wash your hunting clothes before season opens. Deer will line up just for a chance to be shot by you.
Years back Blacktails were, and I am pretty sure still can be entered, used to be given a multiplier of 1.25. Was ended a few years ago as pretty much only one member, @beetlebailey? Was the only one that hunted them. For me it is a whitetail contest and a few muley's get entered every year. Too many variables when including other "variants", good lord do not bring variants into the contest
I wasn’t around when the “powers that be” decided what could and couldn’t be counted when it comes to deer in the “Deer hunting contest, but I’d have to guess that the contest is limited to deer that are indigenous to North America: Whitetail, Mule Deer and Blacktail (a regional variation of Mule deer). If we opened the contest to other species we would be opening a veritable Pandora’s Box.
Yes, Blacktail can still be entered but as you said, the multiplier went away a long time ago. I remember at least two more members that hunted Blacktails every year. I have to say that personally I liked the multipliers. Blacktails are just small and it seems fair, but I was particularly fond of the reducing multiplier for Mulies. A 160” Mule deer is a great trophy but a 160” Whitetail is a Booner.
I'm not looking for any multiplier, can I enter these? It would probably be good to update the rules/'read this' page, to capture the details if blacktail, coues are allowed... Update : I see the rules state mule or blacktail already. Not sure if we have many hunting coues. I can't opine on sika. My opinion would be 'no' on axis.
I have seen people enter sika deer before and they are recognized by Pope and Young and there is a scoring process. I would assume that since they were entered before, they still could be. Just for reference a 80" sika would probably be a new state record. So not much in the point department. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Definitely not. Seems like the pic is a little grainy. I check the lens for bugs or dust. Oh, is that a deer standing there?
