Mine either my older brother and I were burning brush piles at night, my brother was using an orchard sprayer with gas in it to get the piles going. I was wearing a snowmobile suite with gloves and a tuke on my head. My brother said Tim want to be a stuntman, before I knew it he sprayed my back with gas and a line of gas to the fire, poof. I dropped and rolled like crazy. It burned the outer poly layer and melted the insulation. I was lucky to escape uninjured. At least I did not piss my pants like I did when I got hit by the car.

Maybe you have Badgers? Badgers in my neck of the woods live in holes like that.

I know that Badgers eat gophers and other small rodents but may eat a fawn as an opportunity. Maybe claiming the kill from some other critter.

That’s 2.5 hours from me. I’ll bet he’s been super busy, there was a lightning storm that came through about two weeks ago that set half the state on fire. (Exaggeration, but it set a ton of fires in the surrounding region).
The Snake River Complex fire is a half hour from me, and is not all that far away from my Craig Mountain property where I spend most of my free time. Pretty nervous right now.

No badgers, I'm not sure NYS has them ? Though we do have Fisher and bobcat. Though I'm not sure either would construct a den like that ...3 doors as it were.

My son told me to check out Tyler Childers an alt country artist, sounds like a god damn square dance, made me think of the Bugs Bunny cartoon Hillbilly Hare.

Shotguns at close range is your best bet. Might need two.

I tried that on a groundhog behind a friends house several years back. Was a burrow on the side of an old raised train rail that has been years removed. Tossed 3 long burn smokers in it and sat back at the fence, 10yds back, with a pellet gun. Never came out and I never seen smoke coming from a secondary tunnel. Was close to sunset so I guess it could have been empty at the time, but thought for sure there would be multiple entries/exits.

Phillips and standard slot screws. Can we just move on from these archaic designs? Square and torx are far superior!

She lives in an area with hills and glacial till not good badger territory. Best to smoke it out and kill it to see what it is.
