I have been mowing clover plots and with good rains, they look fantastic. I had deer feeding in the end of one field before I was done mowing at the other end. I think they were a little disgusted with me that I waited so long to do some chores. lol. I put one camera out on a mineral site a couple of days ago and already got one pretty nice 10 and some nice younger deer on it. I went out this morning early and put another camera up on a clover field that I scared several bucks out of when I pulled in to mow it the other evening. I have a lot of work to do yet, but finally getting some plots going. I still have about 10 acres of Fall plots to get worked up and planted. This is my first season of owning a tractor with a cab and air conditioning and I am wondering why I waited so many years to make that investment. It makes plotting and mowing so much more enjoyable!
Had to run to the farm and check the barn, some knucklehead broke in and stole a push mower. At least that what was told to the land owner, the chain was on the ground and door open, but it didn't look like anything had been taken. Owner asked if the flat screen tv was still there, he was kind of upset the guy didn't steal that, it's a pos tv. Anyway, after securing the barn, I made a stroll the field edges and took a looky looky, no deer in the field, plenty of humid swamp ass though. I am having a hard time knowing I do not have cameras out, fear of missing out is setting in. It has to be for the best, at least that's what I'm telling myself. I'm going to try an get out this weekend to trim some lanes, if I can't I may just let them all sit until the season begins, I need to stay out of there with all this heat/humidity.
I got the itch to check my cameras before I head to Tennessee tomorrow. The two new cameras I had I high hopes for had nothing. One camera overlooking a small clearing had some does and fawns. I put the old Covert on the feeder I have behind the house. 1300 pics and I’m sitting here waiting for my phone to delete all the pics on the card. I really should get extra cards and just swap them out.
Oldcarp great catch! Will be good eating too. Never thought of Utah having good fishing. Couple of average 8 points on cameras, been busy putting in plots and going to bb games. Went to Iowa last weekend for twin grandsons field of dreams tournament. They won 1st three games then lost. Was impressed with how good the hitting was. Skills contest home run contest, hitters had five throws to hit. two players from a different team hit three over, with another round with just three pitches and they both hit two over. Went another round and one finally won with two over.
Sharpened my broad heads Ordered a second release in case I lose my Carter I have now Putting up a stand in the morning before it gets too hot to do anything Getting excited Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’m putting a stand up today in this 7acre square marked in green. First year I’ll be hunting it. It looks like a nice little spot I’ve checked my camera I had in there once there’s a group of does hanging in there. My only concern is access. I can access where the red lines are drawn. Being such a small area I’m thinking of walking down the property line bordering the field to get in. There is nothing planted in the field they usually cut it once or twice for hay. Any thoughts on this spot? I was thinking of putting the stand near the middle, never had really any luck on field edge.
Ash nothing seems to stand out to me. I'd just walk it and see if there's any major trails or old rub lines. Maybe some oaks that would concentrate deer.
I don’t have any good bucks on camera yet, but I did get this guy right behind my house. I don’t name deer, but if I were going to name him I’d name him something like “California” or “Washington” because even his right side leans left.
Well that little piece I was looking to hunt already has someone in there. I talked to my dads cousin who own the property and he gave permission to someone else to go in there. Not a big deal. He lets us hunt the other 300 + acres and keeps everyone out of there.
Finally knocked the dust off my bow, shot 9 arrows at 30 yards, not bad, but really need to tighten it up. I hate I got so busy that Ive neglected shooting, but, I can’t change the past.
