Murder Hornet?

    I found this insect deceased (thankfully) near my shop. I thought "damn that's big" and wondered what it was. It turns out to be a Cicada Killer Wasp. Never heard of them.

    Not a murder hornet they are over an inch long. The have some here in Washington. Freakishly big.

    yup, Cicada killers, I get em in the yard every year, they dig big holes in the ground by the bird bath ... wont even bother me when I mow ... cool critters to watch come and go ...

    When they really go to town it looks like a skunk tearing up your yard.

    my dad said he put on a shirt fresh off the line once and one was inside- got hammered by it, stung 3-4 times. Said he almost died.
    I've seen them a few times, they're huge.
