I told the Mayor if it weren’t for the lack of a cruiser I could work from home Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The R100 is just outside of Little Rock this weekend if you need a chance to test out that bow. I did it with my boys when it came through in 2019. It is a really fun 3D shoot. I am trying to decide if I will shoot it or not.
I drew an archery deer tag for here at home. Our whole state is a draw for deer. Our deer numbers are a little low so it may be rough hunt. That’s OK it’ll just make it more worth it if I connect. I still have Kansas though. The old family farm always seems to pull through for a deer. I do have my rifle hunt for Idaho. So hopefully between the three states I can bring home a couple deer. We enjoy eating them
Well my son-in-law drew a mountain goat tag for the area behind the house. Mountain goats Live in steep country but the mountains behind my house are very steep and rough. I’m going to need to drop about 10 to 15 pounds And try to push myself more on my little hikes
Today I tried to see if I could get to elk camp. Camp is about 9800 feet. I got to the top but there’s too many snow drifts to get the wheeler through. It is only about 2 miles from the top over to elk camp. So I went and did a little scouting . I Hiked around 8 miles. Saw a lot of elk sign saw eight deer and one was a buck. In a couple weeks I should be able to get to elk camp. In reality that isn’t good because usually can get to elk camp tell about the middle of June. That is how bad our snow pack is. The first picture is the road into elk camp. The second picture is where we elk camp
Okay guys Question time Does a sight, such a trophy ridge, ever wear out? It seems the pins are not as bright as they once were Any thoughts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I can’t say for sure but it’s hard to imagine the fiber optic’s ability to carry light diminishing. I can see the clear cover that protects the fiber optics getting cloudy/hazy/dirty and dimming them down. Then again, as we get older things look dimmer even when they aren’t. Okay fellows. I made the 3 1/2 hour drive to Mack’s Prairie Wings in Stuttgart, AR this morning and walked out with this: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I also got all new arrows. I went with a 50 grain insert and 100 grain points for a total weight of 450 grains. The bow is set at 65# and it’s a 29” draw. It shoots the 450 grain arrows at 280 FPS according to the chronograph. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think it is the coating on the fiber optics it gets clouded. Be careful trying to clean them I broke one of my fiber optics.
Thanks, Thinking of using alcohol to clean them unless anyone else has a better idea Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I went ahead & ordered a new trophy ridge site just in case I break this one while cleaning it Lord only knows how old it it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Great to hear the team is getting hunting gear ready! I need to start shooting my bow, my only archery shoot of the year is coming up. 4th of July the family gets together and we have an archery contest. Regular 12 ring target 3 arrows at 20, 30, 40, and 50. Winner gets a a cheap $25 traveling trophy. lol Then a 50 yd. water balloon shoot. Who ever breaks 3 balloons 1st wins. Windy day it takes awhile. Some cheap prizes to the winner. Always fun and gets us shooting! My turkey season started yesterday. Started out bad then turned good. Windy and raining when I went to a blind to find a bear decided to rip one side apart. Lucky it was the side away from the field and about a 10 year old blind that was in poor shape anyway. My brother was up hunting and he saw a doe with newborn fawn.
I put in a new clover plot last Fall and we had little to no rain after it started to germinate. So, I went out this late winter and frost seeded some additional clover. On the original seeding I used a nurse crop of cereal rye. Here is the result so far. Parts of it are still a bit sparse, but overall I am happy. When the rye matures a bit more I will get it mown and then I will fertilize. I sat and watched it grow last evening with a nice IPA. That seemed to really help. While chilling on the porch of the cabin, I watched two bucks feeding and had a gobbler going nuts in the timber. It was a perfect evening once the lawn mowing was done.
My son-in-law drew a mountain goat tag. So this afternoon I decided to go for a little hike. This picture doesn’t give it justice but this is some mean steep country. The top peak is at 11,800. This was high as I could go before I hit to big of a snowfield to safely cross. I was only at 9600 feet. I just hope my son-in-law realizes what we’re in for I know I need to drop about 15 pounds. It was beautiful up there.
