I watched a few bass boats work the shore and outer bay yesterday they were heaving the same lures they do all summer, never saw one get so much as a bite. I wanted to ask you ever heard of a ned rig? Slow it down. Pretty cool looking in the bay in a kayak you can see the bass making beds the fish are in like crazy. I told the wife do not tell anyone that the crappies are in, just the daughter and son in law.

Erie was a slow start today, it picked up as the day went on. Fish are starting to get into beds, had a blast fishing with my buddy and his dad. Here are some pics. 9CA8C5B0-7C08-4B28-896C-3C622B0DB7D2.jpeg 7AB21AB9-332A-41E2-9CE9-3E45218407D2.jpeg F79C0D99-E99C-4D86-9C3E-D38A7F4259D4.jpeg 84022FCE-4957-40F8-8FE1-E8A557D7D652.jpeg 8E70EFE2-3E6F-43B1-9B06-EE54A9D941B0.jpeg 71064398-6DFC-487F-8EC8-B9519C5D9BE2.jpeg

Gah them smallies are pretty! I fished all afternoon for small mouth and didn't catch a one.

Nothing but big mouth bass and a dogfish for me today. Couldn't even get a respectable lg mouth. Dinks every cast,

Hit the lake yesterday for spawning crappie. Waded through 60 fish to get 15 keepers. Most were in the 9 to 11 inch range. All of the ones kept had watery eggs in them. Just never caught any of the slabs!

Finally got on a few fish yesterday afternoon. I didn't hit them quite as good as Miller (Rick James) but still caught almost a dozen smallies on beds. The lake was getting pretty choppy with boat traffic so it was hard to stay on the beds long enough to catch them. Seems like most of them are bedding in 8-10 feet and the 8 foot power pole wasn't quite keeping us in place. Also caught one decent largemouth on a swimbait. All the smallies were caught in beds on a ned rig.

If we can get some decent weather this weekend I'm going to try and make it out one more time early Sunday morning. This is about the end of the good fishing on Geneva Lake for us guys in our little boats. All of the rich folk in their mini yachts and wake surfing boats are going to turn the place into a nightmare starting soon. 1.jpg 2.jpg

There are some that say catching bedded bass is like shooting does over a corn pile with a double barreled cross bow.

Fred Bear hunted over bait, so if you fish over bass beds you are basically the Fred Bear of fishing.

I was on the Detroit River yesterday - maybe for the 16th time this spring. If you live anywhere near it, you should schedule a trip. I live 2.5 hours away from the river. It is one of the most impressive fisheries in the world. Between the river and Lake Erie, you can fish walleye all year. The three of us had our limits by 9am. We boated around 35 walleye for the day and then went and fished for white bass. Catching white bass is incredibly fun. They SLAM your bait and it doesn't matter what you cast. We kept 20 of those (decent table fare when eaten fresh).

I have heard of the walleye fishing for many years and finally decided I needed to get over there and experience it. It doesn't take much equipment to jig for walleye. Once the water gets to 42 degrees it becomes fairly easy to catch a nice batch of fish. I started trolling for walleye last summer. I went once this winter and twice early spring. This requires a bit more equipment and knowledge, but no too bad. There are absolute monster walleye out there. The limit is six walleye and white bass is 25.

If you are interested in heading over there, I will give you the best current advice I can. Shoot me a message and I'll help how I can. Be careful - it is big water and...it is addicting! 20210510_153403 (1).jpg tk4.jpg

Been meaning to post this and keep forgetting, anyone seen the potential new World Record Redear? I bet it put up a heck of a fight. Local bait shop posted this early month, but was caught down in AZ

We stacked them up pretty good yesterday on the local mud puddle.

Will be headed up to our campsite in Door County pretty much every weekend from now till early July and can’t wait to get after the bigger fish up there.

    A few of the better ones from this past weekend. 6C1EBE88-34E2-48AE-BA2D-C142D3F44C34.jpeg 20A48062-7F4F-489E-AAFE-8B4E777C09B2.jpeg FA2B49B0-D2C1-4C5E-8CD1-7DA5C7DC0675.jpeg 51C6FAE1-14AA-428C-AF73-13A38485AF22.jpeg A7E40A2B-3F37-45E2-BD48-7847778AC6A9.jpeg 3AD53442-AE3D-494E-A297-05FD5C4738ED.jpeg 8E99AB93-175C-4980-B80B-40372680353E.jpeg 9E92AE8B-CA0A-416E-BA00-F20696A91369.jpeg 191C3DB3-9306-4098-A674-CB931430CBA5.jpeg
