A little map study paid off! Biggest smallmouth I've caught in a long long time. Plus my son was with me. He caught several smaller fish but was so happy. Snakes..falling in the water, hiking through the woods, bikes...gps. We had a lot of fun. 20210506_182634.jpg 20210506_160625.jpg

Looks like a northern water snake here in IL that evolved to growing fins and gills.

I'd try it for eating though, Asian carp are some of the most invasive and ugly fish we have here but they eat well surprisingly.

Think I remember a post a year or two back from you about buying a boat as your son wanted to fish a bit more? Looks like it is paying off for quality time, Congrats!

Lake is dead calm this morning and for the first time this spring I can see fish rising to the surface, got to be pretty close to the crappies moving in.

Just got back from Dale Hollow. We had crazy weather, but managed to catch a few nice ones.

Good memory! Yes, that boat was a great purchase. We are fishing a tournament together this weekend.

You guys are killing me here.

I got out for a few hours with a buddy on Saturday morning. He caught one decent largemouth and couple dinks. I got skunked. The males are just starting to come in shallow and get close to beds. The one 3 lber he caught we tempted for a good 10 minutes with ned rigs on the bed he was watching before he finally got pissed enough to go after it.

IF we get decent weather this weekend I should be able to get out on Saturday afternoon for a few hours.

Great looking fish guys! I’m finally gonna get out to Erie tomorrow. Smallmouth are staging to enter the bay to spawn, calling for a good wind on the forecast.

Opening day for Northern Walleye and Bass here in Minnesota, probably going to fish from the kayak at some point today.

Good day on Erie. Can't get pics to post. Have to try later.
14 dandy walleye and about as many white bass. Caught a PB sheepshead too. Lol

I just ordered a fishing kayak, so hopefully I have more luck when I get off the bank.
