Last week of our weight loss challenge and the top 3 guys are all within 1% of each other so I've been busting my hump at the gym. My usual push-pull-legs split with an extra 30 min of cardio thrown in at the end. I've been wearing my heart rate monitor for the last couple of sessions so I can make sure I'm pushing myself. We have to weigh in by noon on Saturday. It's crunch time. This morning's workout.
Been ramping up my leg work for weeks. Walked for 50 mins with a 35lb pack and did 120 pushups with the pack on. Then finished up with a 10min upper body workout of back and shoulders. I need to be less fat. Lol
Yesterday I hiked 2.6 miles at 20% incline in 60 minutes with a 35lb pack, burned 1062 calories. I am feeling a little sore after that combined with Monday's workout. I may just do my push ups and pull ups and then hit a easy elliptical as active recovery. Planning on another hike tomorrow.
Sounds like you're getting ready to hunt out west...or hit the AT. My boys and I next stretch of the AT will likely be 70miles...3 days scheduled...hope it doesn't rain.
Way to stay after it guys. Shoulder has me limited to lower body lifting and some accessory lifts. Hex bar deadlifts are no problem so I did a bunch of those yesterday, ran two miles and did BJJ for and hour and a half. Ran 6 miles today, no lifting today. Wife and I are going to do a half marathon in a couple weeks so I'm going to try to keep working in some longer runs. Stay after it!
Got a late start to my lunch break today and had a hard cut off time to attend a webinar. So I only hiked for 45 minutes. Got in a little over two miles at 20% with the 35lb pack.
Today's workout: Round 1: Clean and Press @ 95 pounds, 30 seconds plank, Weighted Pull Ups @ 20lbs, Push Ups, Jump Rope 1 minute. 5 Reps on each strength exercise for 5 rounds. Round 2: Incline DB Chest Press @ 50lbs 8 reps, Rope Face Pulls @ 50lbs 12 reps, Rope Oblique Rotations @ 50lbs, 12/side, HIgh Cable Rows 12/side @ 80lbs, DB Curls @ 35lbs 8/side, Jump Rope 1 minute. 3 rounds Round 3: 30 second pinch-grip hold on 25lb Olympic plates superset with 1 minute of Jump Rope, 5 rounds
Yeah, it is had been a couple of months since I included it in a workout. My calves were so tight last night that I had my wife used the massage gun on them.
Been steadily stringing along good workouts. Just got done with my best workout since last summer before those hernias. Ramping up the intensity as I'm tired of operating in the 120 to 130bpm zone. Its boring and proven to do nothing for me. Operated in the 150 to 160 zone while doing sprints tonight for awhile before finishing off with bodyweight legs to failure.
5 rounds of 5 weighted pull ups w/20lbs, 5 push ups, Pallof Press for 30 sec/side, 25 Rope Slams and 1 minute of Jump Rope. Followed that up with 30 minutes of ellipitical for 5.5 miles.
You're an animal! I did push day this morning. Dips, flat bench, skull crushers, incline bench w/dumbells, overhead tricep cable extensions, cable flies, pushups. 4 sets of 8-10 reps on each one. Followed by a little bit of ab/core work, then 30 min on the stair bastard. Cooled down with a few rounds of standing walkouts into a 30 second plank. Total workout was 1 hour 32 minutes, just over 1,000 calories burned. Wasn't my best, but wasn't my worst either. I believe I need to start doing some sort of cardio warm-up before lifting to work up a bit of a sweat and get my heart rate up. If I don't, it's tough to get the heart rate up with those particular exercises unless I'm doing some sort of tabata/HIIT program.
