ambiance can't be beat at Wrigley but the food and beverage selection at whatever they're calling the South Side park this week is far and away better than Wrigley. No comparison.

Manny's has the best corned beef sandwich I have ever had. Period.

There's a great little craft butcher called Carnivore in Oak Park but that's not technically Chicago. They carry game (obviously farmed) meat and fresh seafood and even fish straight from the Great Lakes, too. They will also do wild game processing if you bring it in without fur, although the cost was insane. I think it was like $8# for ground no-add.

Haven't been there in a few years, but this got me checking to see if they made it through Covid and they did.

For those that don't know, Oak Park is THE citadel of lily white champagne socialist limousine liberals in the Chicago area. For a place named "Carnivore" to not only survive but thrive there they have to knock it out of the park and they do. This guy is cool as hell, can't remember his name.

    https://www.carnivoreoakpark.com

Guy cooks and looks like this you know he knows how to throw down on food. Super nice guy, too.

Took a lady friend bear hunting last year.
    She shot a dandy!
Just got it officially measured. 20 5/16.. should be in the top 10% in MN with an arrow.
    She's stoked.

There is no bigger A-hole in the world than a Bear/White Sox fan, you could not pay me to attend a white sox game.

Blackhawks fans. Worst of all of them.
Never had anything thrown at me at a White Sox game. Blackhawks/Wings happens as a matter of routine.

These soccer fields have helped these kids deal with this virtual schooling and isolation. A big family. Woke up this morning and about halfway through our 120 mile trip to play I said, "why are we driving so far for a game". 12 yr old responds, " Dad because its TRAVEL soccer". We had a big laugh.

You don't do it and prepare to hear about it come deer season, that's for sure.

Aint a real emotional fella but a song just got me good.
Haven't heard it in many years and never paid attention to the lyrics. At the cabin now and have the radio on. Song is by Vern Gosdin.
    "Chiseled in Stone"
Don't know how to post a video but what an incredible voice/song.
I got teary eyed which may be the "best things in life" once in awhile:cool:

if you're on a laptop, search on YouTube, then hover over the video, right click and select "copy video URL"
then come here, and in the body of a message, right click again, then select paste option. Then hit "enter" key to to to the next line anda you can type whatever you want to say, if anything.

On a droid, in YouTube there is a little curved arrow- tap that, it will give you the option to "share", tap that, choose "copy URL" then get back to the Forum, tap in the body of your message, then post.

I think it's pretty much the same on an iPhone or iPad, but I never use those to access the Forum.

...and thanks, it's a good song. Don't think I had heard it before. Set 'em up Joe is a classic and have heard thousands of times.

A beer and Hot Dog at Wrigley was the culinary highlight of the one time I have been to Chicago. Better than the deep dish pizza.

I consider living out in the sticks as one of the best things in life. Especially if one enjoys wildlife. I was looking for something on my computer desk when something caught my eye in the back yard. A large hawk looking bird that was mostly white flew up from the ground into one of the trees. I got out the bino's and it looked like the pic below. Not my pic as I wasn't quick enough to get to my phone. I looked it up and it is called a leucistic red-tailed hawk.

    LeucisticHawk.jpg

I have been also seeing a nearly pure black hawk on my trips to the bar. He likes to hang out in the tops of some dead trees near a swampy section close to the road. I have pulled over to try for a picture several times and he takes off as soon as I stop. One day I'll get him.

Jack Churchill, just an all around badass dude. Guy lived more in his day to day than most have lived in a lifetime. Even after his service he continued to be a total badass.

Good ol’ mad jack, you would have to be more than a bit nuts to bring a bow and a sword to a gunfight.

Got out to do some tractor work in the field for a couple of hours today. I enjoy doing that stuff.
