Why we bought our son a special 200+ dollar pair of ice fishing bibs insulated but floatation. I think girl friend or parents bought the coat to match... he's been catching good pike.

Southern Indiana doesn't get much ice to fish and my brother has been on me to get out. I told him I was waiting for solid ice... not the 2-3 inches he will fish on.

Well - my brother hit the ice Saturday--- Literally --- fell and blew out his ankle. They had an ambulance come out to transport him to ER.

He had a compound fracture of two of the bones in the ankle joint. Looking at surgery with 3-6 month rehab if he heals well.

He is 69 years young, and still thinks he is made of steel. Damn S on his t-shirts stands for Stumble not Steel!

Heading north around Bemidji Wednesday-Sunday. Hitting lakes we have never fished before. Always fun looking at a map and picking new spots.

Some of the most fun i've had ice fishing was lakes around Bemedji during college with a buddy that was going to school there. Places where you had to walk a mile back with all your gear, crossing small streams littered with wolf tracks. Wish I could remember where this was; i'd show ya.

On Gull lake by bemidji. Didn’t get back to any lakes deep. Lake is managed for sunfish Can’t keep more than 5. Got a ton of fish, kept 8 sunfish between 4 of us. Biggest we kept was 9 1/2”. Threw so many big fish back Wish regs were like this everywhere. Got 3 crappies about 12”, 1 bonus walleye 22 1/2”, and a ton of small perch/northern. On the edge of a hump in 13 feet of water. Can’t beat it for a lake we’ve never fished.

Well that was a weekend to remember! My son and I took off to a local lake I do the majority of my ice fishing on Thursday morning for his first trip in our new to us house (I need to post about that someday).

Planned to stay until Saturday morning but we convinced mom to let us stay until this morning. We ended up with our 2 man limit of walleyes and some bonus crappies and a perch! Caught my personal best as well and luckily my cousin was fishing nearby so he could came to snap a picture quick before we sent it back down the hole.

Best part was being with my little guy for 4 days![IMG][IMG]
