Ceiling is repaired. Have a friend who does stucco for a living and he just threw a thin layer of mud on the entire thing and then textured it. Looks excellent. Waiting a day or 2 to prime/paint it. 2 rooms repainted with 2 coats. Kitchen lights taken out and new lights rewired. Coming along nicely. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
A new reply to an older response but I'll contradict your statement. Some of the newer laminate flooring can actually be sanded down and refinished just like solid wood flooring. Not going to have the same thickness of true hardwood floors, but at 1/2 to 1/3 of the thickness you can refinish one or two times if needed.
Ceiling primed and painted. Looks way better than I was expecting. Kitchen island work done. Just need the top to arrive and paint it. First coat of paint put on entire upstairs today. All doors got a new coat of Watco oil today. They look brand new now. Bathroom cupboard doors sanded and painted. Paint the rest of it this week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hmm, can you post a link to a laminate that can be sanded? Thanks. Jake, good job on getting chit done!
Plan is to get flooring done this week and then we should be able to start getting moved in. Really getting excited. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
too tired to look it up but I put some down for my FiL a few years ago. It actually still looks new. It was the kind that can be sanded. Basically it's a HW veneer over the top of the laminate. Like 1/8 thick; maybe a little thicker. Not 1/4" though.
I believe what your referring to is called engineered hardwood flooring. It’s between real hardwood and laminate flooring. It can be sanded maybe twice in its lifetime but is installed more like laminate flooring or stapled down through tongue like hardwood. Laminate flooring is generally a more durable product that can take more of a beating than real hardwood. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
This is what I was referring to. It's not laminate, but similar to and cheaper than true hardwood flooring.
https://countryplank.com/american-black-walnut-flooring/ have not used this product, 3/16" of real sand able wood . More important, did you check for working, interconnected smoke and CO alarms???
3 guys, 4 hours, and a lot of beers later the flooring is done. Last big project until we can move in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
When I built houses after I got out of HS the guy I was working for his dad would help us once in a while. His go to break/lunch time meal was a sandwich and 1 BLATZ also an ONION eaten like an apple
Jake you have a back yard? get a bird feeder wake up in the morning have coffee watch the sunrise and watch the birds, plot squirrel death. Seriously anybody with a bird feeder says it is cool but those f'ing squirrels after a month or so.
I do have a backyard but it’s not fenced in... yet. Will need to do that before I bust out the bow or .22 haha. Today at the GF parents we had 3 roosters and 5 hen pheasants at their feeders (2nd week in a row they’ve been right up to the house). Sure going to miss stuff like that while we are in town. Only a temporary thing though and only 10 minutes from their place. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The house is coming along nicely. Still haven't moved in yet but we are extremely close. Basically just repainting the cabinets and we will be in. On an unrelated note something extremely weird happened to us this morning. We got to the house around 9am and found that our garbage and recycling bins at the end of our driveway were gone. We thought the company may have came early, but all the neighbors were still out and full. Not sure why anyone would want to take our garbage cans that were full of scrap junk... Had to order new bins. The person we bought it from used to date a guy who has been in prison for a year or so on drug, counterfeit money, and writing fake check charges. A coworker mentioned that investigators will take garbage bins... But he hasn't lived there in 2-3 years and has been locked up for quite some time. Filing something with the police just in case.
I bet the city or county just recovered them after the previous owner changed their address or canceled. You'll just need to contact them to set it up in your name and they'll deliver new ones to you.
We did that already and already received a bill, and had trash picked up once already. But that could be the case. Just weird that no other bins were emptied.
