Constitution is pretty clear that taxes have to come from the HOR. Taxation through EO will die quickly once it reaches the Supreme court. That case will get fast tracked when the lawsuit is filed.

fake news, I am sure some feel better

"from Jessi Melton, a Republican congressional candidate in Florida. "Since she deleted it," the tweet starts, referring to U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y."

"Melton's tweet followed with a photoshopped image attempting to make it look like a tweet that Ocasio-Cortez had written: "It’s vital that Governors maintain restrictions on businesses until after the November Elections because economic recovery will help Trump be re-elected. A few business closures or job losses is a small price to pay to be free from his presidency. #KeepUsClosed."

Yet, let's close international air traffic and impair related commerce due to covid.

Those crossing the southern border... Nothing to see here...

Look at what happened in Michigan. A swimmer went to England and came back tested negative, but had the variant. The entire athletic department shut down. They did not follow the procedure and quarantine for 2 weeks.

Borders need to be closed, all of them.

    Very conservative. :poke:

Yet, <8% of the population has had the virus and it has a mortality rate around 1/1000%.

Not saying you're wrong, the economic damage and impacts, I believe, will be long lived.

As crazy as it may sound, and believe me, it will take patience and endurance, I think the Biden/Harris administration is on track to really wake up the people to how much we all hate bloated big government. As long as people do not get caught up in the typical party line stances, I can see Americans really taking steps to down-size the federal government and get the career politicians out of Washington if the circus continues as it seems to be. Here's to a smack down of big government from both parties and the revival of the Constitution.

That's such a strange article with that part haphazardly thrown in there. What I find even more interesting is there was no mention of the US elections in the original article on Reuters where this information was sourced. They literally just threw that in there for good measure.

I've always been a bit skeptical of BI's content. I imagine this is what we would get if CNBC and TMZ made a baby.

Admittedly, I don't know a ton about HR1. I've read some stuff on it, but haven't looked at the bill itself.

I would say for as much as there are items I like in HR1, there are ones that I disagree with. Namely, I don't like the Federal government passing laws dictating how individual States should run their elections. The intent of the Founders was always to allow the States to run their elections in the best way for their own people. Influence by the Federal government in that process is never a good thing.

Even within that section of the bill, there are items I like. For example, requiring physical printed backups of votes that are done electronically. That's a great idea. Automatic voter registration? Not a fan.

I'll have to read up on the rest of it later.

Not Justin, but to the bolded.

I have not read it nor do I care to read it, it is simply a bunch of words forming feel good sentences and paragraphs.

House Resolutions are not House Bills which get voted on and sent to the Senate for Concurrence and then to the President's desk for signature or Veto to become or not become law.

Resolutions are nothing more than what they sound like, resolutions. They have as much merit as a commoners New Years Resolutions to quit smoking, eat healthier, lose weight and start exercising. They feel good when you say it and in this case the House voted on it, but they have no guarantees or teeth to them. Just a list of desires and wants if they could ever get true Supermajorities in the House, Senate and Oval Office.

When they start trying to put them ideas into House or Senate "Bills", that is when to get concerned and contact your Reps/Sens and state your opposition or support etc.
