Oh my.... Just had a group of six bucks walk by at 70 yards. Four were shooters and one was a big, wide buck. I guess I picked the wrong tree.
Just had an 8 point come from the direction the group went. Thought he was going to come to me but he turned, crossed the crews and walked by at 63 yards. I love hunting the new moon.
I sat until noon to see if anything moved when the moon was overhead. Nothing else moved after the buck at 9:00. I got down and moved my stand to a spot that would have given me shot opportunities at every buck I’ve seen here this week except one. Then I went back to the cabin, cut up the doe that was still hanging (I skinned it yesterday) and put it in a cooler. I grabbed a sandwich and got up in the new tree by 2:00. I don’t expect to see anything before the last hour but I might as well be sitting here instead of at the cabin.
Thanks Brett. So do I. I’ve never killed a good buck here. Something always goes wrong. Does will get a pass this evening.
That was definitely a bachelor group this morning, but I’ve also seen some chasing and there are fresh runs and scrapes. Last year I saw chasing here in February. Who knows?
