I've been up and tied in since half hour before shooting time. Definitely had a deer come in behind me and to my right in the dark. Think they bedded up. Crunchy and 25 this morning. Sun rising as the moon is setting. Great morning to be in a tree.
3 Doe popped out of a thicket about 60yds away. Stood in an opening looking at the Alpaca farm for 5min and then jumped back in the thicket. Wind was good for me so not sure what was up.
Ended up going to the in-laws for a last minute hunt yesterday. Ended up seeing 5 does/fawns right at last light! Dealing with weather today. Hoping to keep the outagest to a minimum. Happy New Year!!!!
Ice storm going on here today. I'm thinking of trying to get out tomorrow, which will probably be my last hunt of the season. Good luck to anyone out today. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
I'm out, nothing else moving. And its cold. I'll be back up 1230-1300 to sit before the rain which is supposed to start at 1500 and probably drive me out of the tree by 1600. Supposed to get heavy rain at 38deg.
Got her to the truck. I'm taking her home and heading out for another doe or buck. After some forensic surgery I now know there are turnips someplace. Tomorrow between hunts time to start looking. The only place I can think of is about a mile away.
Nothing for me and I'm out. I got down and checked a little creek that the deer crossed this morning when I was walking in. It was a big set of tracks! Wondering if it was a buck? The whole bedding area did have a strong smell of deer. I just got to close and the deer where there already in the dark. Was really hoping they would return a few hours later. Got up and sat in the rain... I saw rain... And the game warden on the way out... Good chat. And this concluded my deer season.
anyone noticing bucks shedding these last few days? i have four that shed last couple of days. luckily they were all small yearlings.
I'm back in, sitting from now till the heavy rain. Hopefully about 1600. Good luck all those who are out.
I was planning on trying to get out one last time this afternoon. I was hoping the freezing rain would stay snow like it was this morning. Not so much. Today is the last day of season here in MI. It’s been nice following along on your hunts this year. Guess I’m going goose hunting tomorrow, lol. Good luck to those still after it
Looks like the forum is back up and running. I sat on my property yesterday afternoon and this morning and didn't see a deer. Tomorrow morning I'll be heading to Arkansas to start hunting at Wattensaw WMA.
I'm a teacher. I don't think I've checked in since CHRISTmas break started. This is the first year I haven't killed a deer with a bow in a long time. I did shoot 7 does with a gun this year. I got 4 or 5 over break. Our season is done here in MI. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the LFTS hunters. Thank you for all of the memories, support, and fun times. If you're still out hunting - bless your heart and put an arrow through a deer's heart.
Well guys, I went this morning but I shouldn't have. We had an ice storm yesterday but all of it melted by last evening where I live. Only problem is, I live about an hour from my hunting spot. When I got there, everything was coated in ice. I went ahead and went to my stand and got in it but it was treacherous. It was covered in ice and limbs and branches were falling all around me. I sat about three hours and called it. Honestly, I just didn't feel safe out there. That's it for me this season as things end here tomorrow. Sure was great following along with everyone and having you all supporting me. God bless everyone!! *I tried to post this Saturday Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Wattensaw had a new late youth rifle season this past weekend. I didn't take my son out, so I am not sure how the pressure was, but deer may be skitish for a few days.
