Thank god for this good news!! I just went through this whole thread and when I got to this post, I couldn't help but tear up.
We had a close call a few years back with my childhood beagle... We were camping on a little island on the river and she ran off after scared when someone lit off a firework. We had the whole group of guys we were with searching all night but couldn't find her, so we went to sleep thinking we lost our dog. First thing in the AM, we heard my uncle screaming her name. She was down the river on the opposite bank. After she heard her name being called, she jumped back in to tried to swim to us, as the current kept taking her slowly backwards:lol: She absolutely hates water and swimming so we were amazed that she was able to survive all night fighting off the current and water, let alone wandering the dark woods all night. So happy to hear Elly May came back, Dogs are truly amazing!

Here’s a pic of Elly May getting some attention from two of my Granddaughters.

Elly is doing much better now. Her left front paw is injured and will take some time to heal.

It will take some time for her to fully recover from the ordeal but the sadness is gone from her eyes and she’s warm, comfortable and happy again.

Official count has @LittleChief at 12 on the season, unless I have missed a few or 20 in the last couple of weeks.

Well, he wasn't off by much, like he said.

Looking forward to seeing how Arkansas plays out.

You are missing the point. I was responding to someone's comment about a thermal imager.

When a hunting MACHINE like LC is color blind, a thermal imager is nearly a " must have".

It's immaterial what the actual number is.

I got your point. I was concerned that I had missed one in the last few weeks. @LittleChief going three weeks without a kill is like anyone else going three years.

Some day when I'm retired, I'm going hunting as much as LC.

Ah, who the hell am I kidding? I'm too old to be hoofing stands all over the place.

Some folks can keep track of the number of times they hunt in a season. Maybe I should try that some day. I have no idea how many sits I've logged so far this season, but it's got to be way north of 100.

I used to log each sit. Now, it's just the mature bucks and kills.
