That's a real Christmas story LC! Talk about timing! Very happy for you.
LC, when I saw this thread back up, I said to myself "can it be"? Awesome! :tu:

As a lover of GOOD dogs and people who treat em as such,
I can't imagine the joy you and family are going through right now.

We are going to try to get Elly May in to the vet today to get checked out if they're open. I think she'll be okay, but she's definitely not in good shape. My wife is convinced that Elly's zero thyroid activity/slow metabolism is the only thing that kept her alive. I don't know enough about that to say one way or another.

She was overweight when she disappeared. Now she's very thin with some loose skin. The pads on her front paws are extremely swollen and she can barely walk, but she manages it. While she does move around to eat, drink and do her business she's lethargic enough that it almost seems like she's not happy to be home. I know she must be though.

It was another restless night for me last night. I was keeping a close watch on Elly because two of the other dogs didn't seem to welcome her back. The wife thinks it's because of the strange smells on her. She needs a bath but I wanted her to get some food and rest before we do that.

Elly slept on a dog bed covered up in her favorite blankets last night right beside me and at first every time she would move it would wake me up. When I finally woke up at 5:30 she wasn't there, so I got dressed and went outside to find her. She was trying to get a drink out of the frozen water bowl even though we have one inside.

She's back on her bed in her blankets now.

Sounds like she had a rough couple weeks and best to get her checked out. Hopefully the other dogs come around sooner than later, just another adjustment for everyone.

So at the local grocery store population 450 there are 4 missing dog posters up, this is troubling.

That is troubling. I wonder, theft or they just ran off.

They do not look like dogs likely to be taken because of cuteness all mature dogs.
