I ended up seeing the same doe with 3 fawns that I always see. Heard 9 shots from 7:15-10:30...the last one was REALLY close.

Yes, I had an xray on Monday. Spine looks good. Just lingering soreness and muscles a little tight. I am almost back to normal.

I’m all set up for a short PM sit. I’ve moved back to the other side of the road behind my house and I’m in a tree I’ve not been in since last year. Actually I’ve never killed a deer from this tree, but it’s a good spot to observe movement. I’m only 110 yards from my house.
Man I started to realize my shooting woes were on me this season. I hate to blame anything other than myself for messing up but I truly thought it was my equipment. Truth be my eyes are suffering from Far sightedness for years now. I can get in there and score 20/10 on an eye exam but my close up sucks lately. My eyes are having a hard time looking down my string into my sight housing without going back and forth between reality and eye fiction. And without a third anchor pt(no peep or kisser for a decade), my up and down aiming has been steadily decreasing. Peep sights dont appeal to me so I put on a nose button 2 weeks ago. For $20 I figured I might as well try. I'm hammering the target over and over and feel locked in finally. Might be something you guys might want to try if you are shooting without a third anchor.
I got one this summer and dumped my peep sight. I think I'm more accurate with the peep on, but the trade off is not worth it. The ability to shoot to the last minute of light in any condition is what I was after. Plus with the type of hunting I do, I don't need to shoot pass 20 yards very rarely. It definitely a great way to get your anchor quick. I agree it's worth a shot for people that fight with a peep. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

I’m doe only here. I am tagged out on bucks in Missouri and Kentucky. I haven’t started hunting in Arkansas yet though.
I may try the nose button during the off season. I would love to dump my peep sight and shoot with both eyes open if I could get my brain to accept it. I passed a shot on a doe in the early gray light of my first sit of the season. She was broadside at 16 yards and I could see her fine with my eyes but didn’t feel like I could pick my Shot placement well enough through the peep when I drew back. I can’t help but wonder if not having a peep, I could have made the shot.
I took 15 practice shots this afternoon varying between 15-35 yards. Every shot was a kill shot and less than 3” off of bullseye. This was my first real practice since falling off the ladder on Thanksgiving. It was mostly pain free until the last couple of shots when I tried to hold draw for at least a minute before releasing. I feel confident enough that I could hunt again. Just need to make the time.
I really want to try another state next year. Not so much for the extra tags, but for the adventure. My first two picks are Ohio or Kentucky. I also have enough pts to pull a archery Iowa tag for any zone, but never step foot there. I really need to start planning something now, instead of procrastinating. I put in for Iowa tags for two years. I guess I have some points. haha. Maybe I should do it again. Id sleep in the bed of my truck for a week if need be to save money to hunt while in Iowa.
I do have a place to park. It's a small property with a pole barn and electric, no water though. It belonged to my uncle. I think it's in zone 5. I use a peep and I always shoot with both eyes open. If it's too dim to see my pins I have a light on my sight also.
I'd love to hunt Iowa someday, but I know it will never happen. Kentucky has some great deer and so does Missouri, so I don't think I'll ever put in the time and effort required to apply for tags year after year, accumulate the required "points" and then make a long trip to another state to walk in blind somewhere.
50 has made that a reality for me too. I don't have a "3rd" point, but I'm so dialed in that I know where it is going to rest on the side of my nose when I anchor. I have moved to Progressive lenses in my glasses, and it's all for the up close stuff. Good Luck with the new anchor point!!
