My breakfast and lunch made from home costs less than $5.oo a day there has to be a reason to spend the $
If you are considering just for fishing and pulling portables on the lake you might consider a Snowdog. I’ve been looking at them for a couple seasons but just can’t pull the trigger with the small amount of fishing I do. Living on the lake, I’d be getting one. https://snowdog.com/ Much less than a 4 wheeler one SXS. Supposed to pull heavy loads. St Cloud has a dealer.
I thought it was a good deal. A 2007 Rhino bought in 2009. I've only added gas, change oil and replaced 1 battery. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
They both suck in deep snow. While out cruising in warm weather, I like a 4wheeler. Just more nimble. In your situation, I'd say a TRACKED side by side if using primarily for ice fishing. A bit spend but at our age, getting stuck and shoveling sucks. The view from here.
Does your lake freeze good? Slush? Weight could be a factor? 4 wheeler with tracks? Is it a busy lake? Packed snow? Powder? Snowmobile?
Polaris Ranger with tracks would be my ultimate choice if money was no object. Man that'd be nice for ice fishing, snow goose hunting and calving season.
I got a quote from a dealer for a basic Polaris Ranger 1000 EPS $15,129 out the door $450 a month for 3 years. That payment is more than what the payment was on my wife's cross over. Granted the 450 was with nothing down but still, that is an expensive toy.
When I bought mine in 2015 it was 12,800. Granted its a 800 and not a 1000. I decided to bite the bullet and paid cash for it! Like I tell the wife.. what good is money after your dead! My kids can make their own stash!
In that case, chains are an option until it warms in spring. But to second another comment, power steering. Rack steering is ok when you are at speed but slow speed turning or trying to turn around sucks!
That's my philosophy. You only live once. I have a few toys myself. I have one kid and if there's anything left when I go, it's his.
I know what you mean. It took my son way longer to "get with the program" than I had liked. But at least he finally made it.
The only reason I mentioned a RZR because he mentioned roads open for use. Like I said it all comes down to it’s intended use. Having said that and if you were you use it for utility (fishing-hunting-yard work) but also want to ride on the roads-trails I would choose a General. You would have the nice dump box and it’s comfortable for any time spent road and trail riding. The bench seats on a Ranger sit too upright and are not comfortable if you are trail-road riding. Like I said, the General is my choice as well. My bar is located on the trails. There are so many roads that are part of the trail system that people are starting to put street tires on their utv's. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
I honestly do not know what I am going to do, probably a decision I will put off my son in law is going to leave his 4 wheeler here will see how that goes. I probably need to construct a proper ramp off the shore. I can get away with it using rip rap for erosion control, I have a spot that I believe you could drive off without dropping for than 4".
Sota, we've had quite a few years now without MAJOR snow. Hope not but we are due. Got several good friends that went with a side by side and bit the bullet n put tracks on them.. spend but...., they are out fishing when others are left stranded at home watching the vikings lose If you plan on staying in your new house and can afford it, do it.. Also, they can move a good amount of snow with a blade.
