I've only been out once this season, last Saturday. Tweaked my back that evening so I skipped Sunday. Looking at the forecast I doubt I hit it that hard this weekend. Hopefully the bottom falls out on Halloween weekend. Maybe y'all remember back on Halloween of '87 when it thunder sleet/snowed? Or at least it did in Chickasha..

Thanks, man! It's gonna be hard to top this during the rest of the season.

Lol I was only 23 days old when that storm happened. I did work in Chickasha for a year and it does some strange crap, weather wise!

Speaking of weather!! This weekend looks good for it! I watch news 9 but I'll be damned if I can ever pay attention to Lacy Swope with that new traffic girl. As a wild old man once said, "Wooooo!" - Rick Flare

I think I'm going to head up to the newly opened Sandhills WMA the first weekend in November. Anyone been yet?

The weather this week has been brutal. We were supposed to be out by Alva midweek, but we postponed the trip until Friday when this stuff is supposed to clear out. Hopefully they'll be moving around after being pinned down for so long by weather. Sounds like pre-rut activity has started, so crossing my fingers a big boy walks out in front of me, but I'll take a slick head to put more meat in my freezer. Either or.

Any of you guys doing any good lately?

Anyone doing any good lately? I'm heading out on Friday for 5 days of hunting. Looks like deer cap is gonna be full with most of the guys on my family meeting for rifle season on our lease. I'm taking a couple of archery tags out there and hopefully can fill at least one of them during the trip. You guys hunting rifle season?

Been slow in southern Logan County. Just small bucks chasing. I'm going to try and get out this week and bowhunt before the orange army invades but being in the roofing business I'm just a wee bit busy.

This has been the best season I’ve ever had! Killed my first deer with a recurve and at that time he was my biggest with a bow. 58314997-519D-419F-AC41-7143C998D991.jpeg

Then a couple weeks later I take a doe with my recurve. F9917C7B-E04F-4A22-B524-26134985DE37.jpeg
And finally on the 29th, I kill my biggest buck to date with any method of harvest and it was with the recurve as well. 60C0D1E4-95F3-43CA-B99F-A7C89FBD3420.jpeg

The weekend before that, I took my nephew on a draw hunt and he took his second deer and biggest to date C70E1DD5-C479-4AB9-962F-60550375B514.jpeg

It’s been one crazy and action packed year for sure! I hope the rest of y’all are having success as well.

Thanks bud! I was kinda forced to use the recurve. A couple of days before the 1st, my bow blew up on me. I guess it was a blessing in disguise lol. Here’s my arm after my bow whipped me lol 7F2D025B-5322-4DE2-B7D8-1CA64022851D.jpeg

String jumped off the bottom cam and it just damn near peeled the hide off lol. I think my nock broke when I shot because it sounded like a dry fire and my arrow grazed my arm and went 15 feet away. It broke the arrow and the nock was broke. Honestly, I’ll never know exactly why it happened but that’s the only scenario that makes sense.

My first thought was dry fire, your instance of arrow failure could lead to that exact scenario as well.

You can see where the string wanted to filet your arm at first but skipped off and tried a second time.

You were lucky IMO, that could have been so much worse. I'm betting some out there have a similar result from bad form, yours definitely looks to be some sort of malfunction/dry fire.

Oh, I forgot to mention..... OUCH!!!!

Man it could have been so much worse, not only the string slicing my hide off but that arrow scraped my hand.... an inch or two lower it would have went into my hand. I’m very lucky!!!

ohhh, I said way more than ouch

It certainly could have been worse. Those strings are very unforgiving when they contact flesh. I can't imagine how bad that must have hurt! The stuff we go through to kill a deer.
